Sequel to The Last Airbender, set 70 years after the previous series. Premiers on Nickelodeon April 14th

The first two episodes were released at http://korranation.tumblr.com/ and have since been taken down, but as we all know, nothing is ever permanently removed from the internet and there are places to find these episodes.

They were great IMO, I like that the setting has advanced technologically in the past 70 years, it's got a late victorian, early 20th century feeling to it.

Been waiting for this for a long time.
I was also surprised to hear that while it is being classified as a "mini-series", they have over 20 episodes planned for the initial order. Very pleased, I am.

I think it was originally planned for 12 episodes and now it's 26 due to demand/excitement. I wouldn't be surprised (and am hopeful) if it gets another season if successful, hopefully they don't end this season with too final of a conclusion.

EDIT: Just cheked the wiki, yeah it was originally going to be 12 episodes. And apparently the first 12 is the first season, the next 14 are the second season, but I don't know if that means they won't be out until next year or not.

I don't see it with Toph's daughter. The councilman maybe. He definitely seems to have the desire for power.

I am in love with this show. The gratuitous angsty romance is meh, but everything else is perfect.

^I have my doubts that he's Amon (mostly because they don't sound like they've both voiced by the same guy). I do think he's somehow involved with the Equalists, though.

They're in league with the company that makes the automobile things. It explains why the industrialist's daughter has a scheming feel to her. They have to be getting the technology from somewhere (for the devices they use now to imitate chi blockers).

But yeah, shit gettin' real.

I don't think Tarlok has anything to do with the Equalists, he just wants to use the Equalists to get more power. So far he's been using them to make Tenzin look weak and Lin look incompetent so it's working.

^^I suspect the same thing. The industrialist guy (or at least his daughter) is involved somehow though.

That's a good point.

You may be right. The summary for the next episode said something along the lines of "Korra thinks one of her allies is working for the Equalists." That could very well be referring to Tarlok. And my genre saviness tells me that he's going to look guilty as hell but the end of the ep will reveal perfectly reasonal explanations for his actions. Maybe he's not really in leagues with them, maybe we're just meant to think that as the setup for some kind of twist. But whether or not he is, I think you're right and he's playing on the city's fear of the Equalists to gain more power and control.

God I hope Asami and her father just turn out to be just a couple of nice wealthy people.

THAT would be an unexpected twist.

I guess the "evil scheming wealthy industrialist" plot twist wins again.

But it could have easily gone the other way. For a while there I was convinced that the informant was planted by Tarlok (maybe even Amon) in an effort to make Tenzin, Lin and Korra look incompetent.

I'm hoping the ending vision was just him bending them to his will and then wiping their minds or something. If it turns out that he offed Sokka, Tov, and Aang (the three we know are dead), then that would put a damper on the happily-ever-after vibe you got at the end of the last series.
And I'm not a fan of that.

Between when she is thrown into the pillar until she is thrown in the back of the car she has a flashback-type vision where you see Sokka, Toph and Aang being manipulated by Tarlock via bloodbending.

oh, i didn't realize that was Tarlock. I think, in book 1, Aang et al met a blood bender. I thought it was just a flash back to when the Avatar faced a blood bender before. will re-watch

That wasn't Tarrlock, it was the Yakone guy they have mentioned before. However he looked similar and was possibly his father. Here's a brilliant analysis:

http://birdbrainblue.tumblr.com/post/24281699688/an-analysis-of-the-flashbacks

Also he couldn't have killed Aang there because we know Aang only died 17 years ago when he was in his 60s.

I'm going to hold on to my crazy theory that Anng didn't die, but somehow was stripped of being the avatar and is now Amon

just because it'd be neatly darth vader-y

[Edited on June 4, 2012 at 5:41 PM. Reason : is this Yakone thing from the comic or something?]

Tarrlok mentioned it at the first council meeting we see. Apparently it was a major threat to the city that happened 40 years ago. It's probably what all the flashbacks have been about.

[Edited on June 4, 2012 at 5:44 PM. Reason : I don't know about any of the comics though]

That story makes me think I missed something huge. I don't recall hearing anything about Yakkone, the Red Monsoons, or events from 42 years ago. Where did this info come from?

^Bah, I wonder if I have that still On Demand so I can rewatch or something.

You can rewatch the past 6 episodes here: http://www.nick.com/videos/legend-of-korra-videos?navid=showNav

But I think it might have been the 2nd episode (which you missed by one day) so I don't know.

[Edited on June 4, 2012 at 5:53 PM. Reason : Red Monsoons were just mentioned in passing as a bending gang, like the Agni-Ki firebenders gang ]

Well that episode was good, but it sucked to see Lin go down like that. Tenzin was pretty badass though during his fight.

yeah, that's why I was asking - normally they leave some sort of cliffhanger for the next season

[SPOILERS]

I'm okay with the amon ending cause of how it went down on the boat there,

but we could have had a season 2 of journey to recover powers that would have been entertaining, instead we get deus ex machina ending. Guess they could do something neat with the spirit world or something next season but its kinda the superman conundrum of how do you make a legit threat against such a powerful character.
