I'm looking for some new TV shows to watch. I dont have cable, but will watch on Hulu, torrents, DVD's.

My favorites include:
LOST
Dexter
Californication
Weeds
Archer
The Walking Dead
Breaking Bad
Prison Break
The Wire (a good show, but a little slow)

I'm not a fan of Arrested Development (the humor is too dumb for me), Scrubs, or shows like those.

What else would you guys recommend?

Check the Netflix thread.

But, while I'm here, I don't see Madmen on your list.

It's too ridiculous for my liking. Just like Scrubs.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I DO like Alcatraz. I watch it every now and again, but i'm going to watch it all again from the beginning soon.

I can see absurd WAY more than dumb, AD is most definitely not dumb humor. Then again my definition of dumb humor is shit like two and a half men

and yes, scrubs doesnt even belong in the same sentence as AD

I've only watched season 1 of Arrested Development, so maybe it gets better.

Gob, Tobias, and Buster ruin the show for me. I dunno. I think it's just that their situations they get into are just too unbelievable.

And I dont mind if it's currently on air or not. I'll just get the torrents.

grimm is pretty good right now, portlandia is hilarious - but you might find that humor kind of off, too. as far as old shows go, i absolutely recommend sports night.

Client List. I'm not sure when it begins, and I don't know if it will be any good, but it has Jennifer Love Hewitt as a massage therapist who offers sex, and she wears lingerie in half the preview that i've seen. It can't be all bad.

did someone really recommend john from cincinnati?

Make this simple and just go down this list and watch what you haven't seen:

http://www.imdb.com/search/title?num_votes=5000,&sort=user_rating,desc&title_type=tv_series

If he thinks Arrested Development is too over the top, he'll throw a wrench through his screen watching Community.

Oh, right, a recommendation. FREAKS & GEEKS.

Misfits -- British show where messed up teens get super powers. It's as hilarious as it is interesting.

Doctor Who -- Watch the 2005 series. It starts off slow, but you find yourself loving how ridiculous is it is.

I really liked John from Cincinnati too. That being said, I'm not sure I would recommend that anyone go back and watch it since it was cancelled before really getting anywhere.

but i'll add/second: game of thrones, battlestar galactica, 24, firefly, freaks and geeks, Boardwalk Empire (has a slow start, but then picks up), Wilfred, Life and Times of Tim, Flight of the Concords

Perhaps, in you're incredibly extensive, intellectual vocabulary, lies a word more suitable than "dumb" to describe Arrested Development.

Okay, you returned and used "ridiculous". Which I always thought was the basis of humor, but to each their own...

Judging by your list, I'd second Mad Men.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned The Sopranos yet.

The first couple of seasons are fantastic, then it turns into a fucking drama fest womens show.

But the good first part of the series is well worth it.

I'll add:

Six Feet Under

I'll second:

Justified

24

Sons of Anarchy

The Shield

Rescue Me

So basically some of the best comedies that have been on TV.

Do you also hate Seinfeld?

Modern Family and The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret could not be more different.

You should probably finish Todd Margaret, it has the most insane ending of maybe any show I've seen.
