I guess my point is that the girl could have gotten drunk any other way and the same result would have happened.

The mother sees nothing wrong with any of her daughters other behavior, but wants to blame the manufacturers of a malt beverage that is clearly labeled as to alcohol content. Also if you have ever tried this stuff you would know it is strong after taking one sip...if she drank the whole can she was trying to get drunk, period, end of story. It is an unfortunate situation but was the result of stupidity and criminal behavior, not the result of four loko being available.

But the truth of the matter is that the drivers around here are typically too fucking stupid to manage that roundabout and it's not just failure to yield that's been the problem. I've seen people already in the roundabout stop and wave to try and let someone in. WTF people!?! And then there are the people that try to change from the inside lane to the outside lane at the last second in order to make an exit. Dammit people, it's a fucking circle! If you are about to miss your exit I can guarantee that it will come around again in about 5 seconds.

Maybe because in 2001 mopeds were not very widely available in North Carolina? They did not become common in this area until production of chinese-made scooters blew up in 2003-2008. There was no dedicated scooter store in Raleigh until 2006 or so, although Pap Boys and such started selling them in 2004-2005. Article did not give a statistics about the number od DWI-related crashes, but if moped crashes went up and car crashed went down, its a good thing for general public, I would imagine.

^I don't care so much about the licensing part. What next, have to show a license for a bike with multiple gears because it could go over 20 mph? My problem is the no insurance aspect. They should have to have some basic liability insurance in case they fuck up and cause an accident.

my brother's car was totaled when some mexicans without a license or insurance (and a stolen license plate) hit his car...i'm betting there are more accidents involving unlicensed/uninsured motorists in cars/trucks/vans than on scooters

see above...though rarely have i been behind a 50cc scooter only going 15-20mph...30-35mph? sure...my metropolitan would hit 38mph without any modifications

is that slow for a 45mph zone? sure...but many 45mph zones are multiple lanes, so your argument doesn't hold very well
