I know beatsunc can speak ad nauseum as a Gay North Carolinian, who is obsessed with NASCAR, about the faults of the political environment concerning Amendmant 1, homosexuality and the influence of the "NASCAR" community.

But what does TWW think? North Carolina was and is a swing state...Has the state progressed politically? Was it mainly the black vote that made it a swing state? Can the NASCAR community join with the black community to vote for Amendment 1?

Does beatsunc have any hope here? It seems to me that it would be an odd but perhaps appealing mutualistic symbiotic relationship given their hate of the gays...

For the record I love Ricky Martin, i'm a diehard Ricky Martin fan...and George Michael's never gonna dance again is probably the best song ever...so I'm against Amendment 1...But for you NASCAR gear heads, discuss mane.

I've seen 2 people on facebook that support this, from rural NC (both white) and their main reason for supporting it is "sanctity of marriage." Several people have tried to argue with them, and it only hardens them in opposition.

I think the only way this will fail is if anti-amendment 1 people go to the polls more. Otherwise, if it was a simple democracy, it would pass.

I hope the opponents of Amendment 1 are already looking at the game plan to repeal this...
