Quote :
"Raleigh’s newest free concert series, Oak City 7, kicks off May 31, 2012, in City Plaza on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh.

Admission is free to the public and the events take place from 5pm to 9:30pm every other Thursday, beginning the Thursday after Memorial Day, and ending the Thursday before Labor Day. There will be seven shows total.

OC7 features notable local and regional bands along with local and craft beers. There are three bands per event. The genres will include Americana, Indie Rock, Folk Rock, and Bluegrass."

Sounds promising, almost like a revival of Alive After Five minus the BYOB (which, while unfortunate, probably won't happen again).

I'm looking forward to checking this out.

(btw I didn't see this posted already - I searched but not super thoroughly)

Looks good to me. I think the price of alcohol for sale will be the determining factor on the success of this effort.

For something about a month away you'd think they could at least tell you who the first acts are going to be.

The bands are being announced on Monday the 30th. Also they're still taking feed back on what bands people want to see, so they might not have all the acts set.

(BTW that's the first thing you see, in bold, when you click on the schedule link)

Man T.B.A is playing a lot!

I was just thinking yesterday, "Whatever happened to the Squirrel Nut Zippers."

T.B.A, eh? Are they any good?

No, they suck.

Ah, so it's not just a clever name.

In related news, I fucking love Hobex and The Annuals. I'll be there for both of those at the absolute least

I've seen big daddy love a couple times and they tear it up. I'm looking forward to that concert.

It's really weird that Annuals are still a thing, right?

The first event is tomorrow night! According to their FB page there will be over 15 different craft and local beers out there to drink, priced at $4 a piece.
