-Is it too facetious to think that Philly has the best D-Line in the NFL? Trent Cole, Fletcher Cox, Cullen Jenkins, Jason Babin.
-I am still skeptical of the linebackers and safeties though. -I think getting rid of Asante Samuels was a great move.

They gave up 600 rushing yards to the Rams last season.
That 9 wide was a disaster. They were one of the hottest teams in the league to close the season, it's all up to which Vick shows up this year. 8/1/2012 2:44:35 PM |

Worst. Win. Ever. Against the worst team in the NFL this season. Doesn't look good. Four INTs. Jesus... Defense looked okay. DRC looked great. OLine looked bad. Vick was getting hit all the time. Vick looked terrible. Same old mistakes. Looked like a rookie.
Worst case scenario this season is that Philly squeaks into the playoffs and loses in the first round. Lurie will probably see that as enough to sign Reid back.

No. Worst case.
If they don't make a deep run in the playoffs, I'd rather they miss it entirely. I feel like barely making the playoffs is enough for Lurie to justify bringing back Reid and Vick.9/10/2012 12:45:23 PM |

good thing the Baltimore game is at home...it might take a few weeks but when the offense starts clicking they could be destroying teams towards end of the season and make a deep run in playoffs 9/11/2012 6:26:14 PM |

12 turnovers in 12 quarters.
Vick was knocked down 22 times.
2 starters out on the OLine. Zero backups on the bench if anyone else got hurt.
Best WR is out and the only other receiver worth a damn is getting blanket coverage by their best CB.
The TE who had a career game last week was completely ignored this week.
You have a top 3 rb and you don't start running the ball until you are down 3 scores in the 4th quarter.
Typical Andy Reid.
Pathetic.

Jesus, Nnamdi looks like a fraud out there. He is the weakest link on defense this season so far. He is getting exposed by #2 WRs.
+4 point differential in their 3 victories. I can't wait for them to start playing up to their potential.

LOL @ Andy Reid's scapegoat firing of Juan Castillo.
How about addressing your 17 turnovers on offense in 6 games first.
Not that I'm complaining. Castillo should never have been given the job in the first place. Plus, giving up a 10pt lead in the 4th qtr is embarrassing. 10/16/2012 9:57:04 AM |

Lol are they kidding? They've been one of the best defenses in the league.
Pretty sure their defense has nothing to do with vick fumbling on every play and fat Reid deciding not to use lesean mccoy this year 10/16/2012 10:49:13 AM |

I think the main point is that although the defense seems to have been solid so far this year, it had even higher expectations of being ridiculously dominant. I think some trades are coming up next to gain some better O-linemen

The defense has been better than last year. I would never say its been great. Plus, when you have the lead in the 4th quarter and you change your entire defensive scheme (that has been working for 3 qtrs) and lose, you are NOT a good defense.
The fact is that even with all his interceptions and fumbles (none of which came in the 4th qtr), Michael Vick put the team in position to win in 2 out of their 3 losses. The Juan Castillo's defense completely collapsed twice.
Philly should be 5-1 even if they don't deserve to be.
That being said, I think Vick is terrible and I am hoping something gets done about him during the bye week. Nothing will though.
On a side note, this so-called 'elite' defensive line has ZERO sacks through the last 3 games.
The Castillo firing was a long time coming and should have happened during the offseason. Now, by firing him mid season, you've embarrassed a nice guy whose bee with the organization for 18 seasons. While I think the Castillo firing was ultimately warranted, there are several other coaches performing poorly that need serious consideration on firing. Including head coach, OC, and both line coaches. 10/18/2012 7:03:32 AM |

I am kind of reminded how Reid benched McNabb for Kolb after halftime of a game (right around this time of year even). The next start, McNabb bounced back very well. Wonder if the same will happen to Vick once he has another turnover or three during the first half of the next game... 10/18/2012 1:59:11 PM |
Pikey All American 6421 Posts user info edit post |
The next game is pivotal.
Either Vick and the offense blow up for 40 pts and everyone thinks Reid is a genius again while he extends his post bye win streak.
OR
Vick turns the ball over going in for a score, Philly is getting trounced at the half and Reid puts Foles in. The offense gets dumbed down to run playas and quick out (like it should be all the time) and Foles looks like the answer and a QB controversy ensues.
OR
Vick sucks. Foles sucks. Reid sucks. Everyone gets fires after the season.
I am both fine with and angered by all these outcomes at the same time. 10/19/2012 1:29:53 PM |

This team is dead to me.
It is bad when a loss feels like a victory in that they are another small step closer to bring needed change to the organization starting with the firing of Andy Reid.
I've pleaded the case for keeping Reid for too long based on the mantra of "Who are you going to find better to replace him". That doesn't even matter anymore.
On a side note... some possible rumors floating around the philly media of possible replacements: Jon Gruden Sean Payton Bill Cowher 11/6/2012 6:33:38 AM |

LOL at the kicker in that gif. Why are kickers so inept at everything regarding football except kicking? They look queer as hell when you see them trying to throw, catch, run, or tackle. You'd think they'd have some semblance of ability if they've been around the game long enough to make an NFL roster.
Also, no coach is going to want to come to Philly now. When Reid eventually goes, there will be at least 5 other coaches that go too. They'll have too. Plus, this franchise is so dysfunctional behind the scenes. A few years ago, they were looked at as a model on how to run a franchise. Now they're laughable. Everyone just seems indifferent and unmotivated. Like the guy who announced he is retiring in 3 months. You know he isn't gonna do a damn thing between now and then. The Eagles need a back-to-basics crash course. 11/8/2012 7:06:01 AM |

It was actually a neat little gimmick play. They drew most of the coverage to one side of the field.
Unfortunately, it was executed poorly. It wasn't even close. It was a forward pass by like 4 yards. 11/8/2012 9:08:07 AM |

RGIII didn't really need to play all that great. 15 pass plays was all he needed. Philly handed the game to them on a silver platter. Meanwhile, poor Foles gets lined up for 50+ pass plays behind an OLine averaging less than 2 seconds of protection. To throw salt on an open wound, Reid decides to use his franchise running back with 2:00 minutes left and down 25 points in an attempt to make his run/pass ratio more balanced. McCoy ends up getting carted off the field with a concussion. In the post game interviews, the reason Reid gave for this was, "We were trying to win the game". When asked if he regretted doing that... "No."
I actually hope Reid doesn't get fired this week, although this is the first time I think Lurie would have the guts to do it after that post game presser. I want the entire country to hear the FIRE ANDY REID chants on MNF. Cam is going to look like Joe Montana next week. 11/19/2012 7:37:09 AM |
