what are you talking about?

Paris Hilton is a modern-day Jane Austen, and Kim Kardashian has the stunning wit of Emily Dickenson.

One said fact that republicans hate to admit: The smartest thing that a rich person ever did was to pick rich parents.

He is filthy rich for one of many reasons, least of which is he has reasonably high intelligence what I assume from his record.

basically smart does not equal filthy rich

I wish people would stop using the correlation that there are smart filthy rich people as the cause of their wealth. In most cases it takes more than intelligence to make multi millions of dollars."

Ok I will spell it out for you.

Harvard undergrad + MBA + JD + Founding partner at Bain Capital where the firm is still highly successful today = highly intelligent

Yeah some wealthy people are lucky and not smart, but if you do some research instead of making blind assumptions I think he qualifies as being a smart guy

Hell, I can get you a degree from harvard by 3 o'clock this afternoon... with nail polish. These fucking amateurs...

and if you did some research you'd realize that the business model of his at Bain Capital was saddling distressed businesses with crippling debts and eliminating labor.

Looking at his financial wealth without calling into question his moral bankruptcy is a pretty simplistic way to assess him as a human.

because there's no way being the son of a multi-millionaire, former Governor, Presidential Cabinet Member might have helped in anyway getting into Harvard or could be seen as a 'bonus' when being recruited for a consulting job fresh out of college with no real world experience.

no, its not a big deal that he said that, all people occasionally say stupid things because they didn't think about. yes, it was a dumb statement and there is no defending it.

Having book smarts don't matter in issues of common sense, one of the many reasons most people can't relate to Romney.

I don't think it's anti-intellectualism to say that knowledge of aerospace engineering might not be that important for a president.

It's less anti-intellectualism than respecting intellectualism in a certain field but not expecting intellectuals to be experts of all fields.

Like I was reading some thread about how Stephen Hawking believes that we shouldn't actively try to contact aliens because he says it's likely that hostility would be inevitable. What the fuck does Stephen Hawking know about alien culture? he's a physicist. Same coult be applied to any quote not about physics by internet hero Neil deGrasse Tyson .

It was rambling and somewhat beside the point perhaps. Long boring day at work.

However, I think Romney would be a terrible president, but his quote about airplane windows means nothing to me. Seriously, what does it have to do with anything? If he was running for president of the FAA or NASA it might concern me.

I mean, it is in a fuckin action movie at least twice a year. Come on now.

I think in reality though it is very similar to Bush and Perry, in that when they never show you any shine, and all you see is a dull image, you start to wonder if there is anything there at all.

Haha, action movies.

Right.

This page in this thread might be the most worthless discussion ever to grace TSB.

That's really something.

This especially is a gem:

Hahaha. You just made fun of Neil deGrasse Tyson (who is my second favorite astrophysicist) and Stephen Hawking in one post, and the internet immediately went crazy.

Now, if you could just say something to slight Richard Dawkins, we can get this party started.

...and what exactly is the problem here? What's the disconnect with people like you?

Do you advocate a 100% death/inheritance/estate tax?

Does everyone upon birth need to be taken down to square one?

Would he be where he is today financially if it wasn't for being born rich? If the answer is yes, he's definitely an admirable being. If the answer is no, then there's nothing to admire.

Also, Obama didn't just up and change his mind on the healthcare tax, the Supreme Court did that with a decision from out of left field.
