his thread is for all of the new pilots and returning favorites that will premiere in Fall 2012 on Network and Cable TV.

Not every pilot is thread worthy and not every show will make it past the opening handful of episodes. So let's use this thread to discuss new shows, premiere dates, cancellations, etc.

here is a good line-up grid to see what's on where this coming fall (network TV only).

As it updates I will update the attached image. Also, as the network upfronts conclude I will update as well

http://tvline.com/2012/05/14/fall-tv-grid-day-by-day-schedule-abc-cbs-fox-nbc-cw/

CBS: CSI Miami is the first of the franchise to be cancelled after 10 seasons. 2.5 Men to Thursdays
ABC: New Tuesday comedy block with Happy Endings and Apartment 23. New Sunday night block with Revenge moving and the new paranormal soap 666 Park Ave.
NBC: has moved Community to Friday nights at 8:30, led in by Whitney. A 13 episode season with the (slim) chance of a back 9 pickup has been ordered. Also a post apocalyptic style show "Revolution" by JJ Abrams will premiere in the Monday at 10pm slot. Knowing NBC's history, and the recent fate of sci-fi type dramas I am not holding my breath.
Fox: pretty much the same thing as always

NBC led all networks with 10 series being cancelled, with a majority of them being freshman series. This is why I don't watch any new dramas on NBC they all seem to get cancelled. I figure this will be L&O:SVU's last year. Fox isn't much better, I liked the Finder for the mindless entertainment of it, Alcatraz is not a huge loss, though I watched it.

Don't know how I feel about Whitney leading into Community seems like NBC is punting on both of those series.

^^^it's accurate as far as the network upfronts go. The greyed rows are networks that have not yet presented their fall schedule.

So yes OTH, Secret Circle, and Ringer have all been canceled by the CW

Happy Endings squandered a better lead-in (Modern Family) pretty consistently last season, and I think if FOX doesn't preempt New Girl for baseball constantly in the Fall it could be a bigger hit.

If anything that proves that it won't survive on it's own, since it was doing Community level ratings without a huge lead-in audience from Modern Family.

So has anybody taken a look at any of the new shows coming out this Fall? Here is a website that has most of the videos available to check out:

FOX
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/05/14/fox-new-show-video-trailers-for-ben-and-kate-the-mindy-project-the-mob-doctor-the-following-the-goodwin-games/133963/

The wife and I checked them out last night and here is a brief explanation and my/our thoughts and a rating of interest in it:

CBS

Elementary: Modern day retelling of Sherlock Holmes in NYC. Dr. Watson is played by Lucy Liu and Holmes is coming out of rehab and a bit unstable. My wife likes Sherlock Holmes stuff, but she just wasn't a big fan of the trailer or Lucy's version of Watson. She said she might want to give it a shot but wasn't blown away. Another crime show to me so I'm not terribly excited. C+

Vegas: Story of the very early days of Las Vegas with Michael Chiklis as a Chicago mobster and Dennis Quaid as a cowboy/rancher who is the sheriff. I kinda liked this one in concept. Dunno how long it will last but this period and choice of location are both interesting to me. Probably will flop but I am going to watch it. B-

Made in Jersey: A Jersey girl goes off to law school and makes it in the Big Apple as a hotshot attorney, but still has to deal with her family. Yawn. Neither of us were interested in this one. Only thing I thought was cool about this was the lead actress is actually English and has a very British accent, which was surprising after hearing her Jersey accent at first. D

Partners: A sitcom about two guys who are best friends and do everything together. One of them is gay and one is straight. Stars David Krumholtz from Numbers and Michael Urie from Ugly Betty. Another yawner for me. D+

NBC

Revolution: Something kills all electricity throughout the world, yet one man may know why it is out and how to turn it back on. The story is set 15 years after "The Darkness" so its a post-apocalyptic show featuring Gus from Breaking Bad or Sidney from Once Upon a Time as the leader of a militia. I would equate it to Lost in a post apocalypse setting. Which is fine with me. Probably my top most interested show. A+

Chicago Fire: Drama about a fire department who has recently lost on of their own. Drama ensues. Another yawner for us. Seems like a shitty version of Rescue Me IMO. D

Do No Harm: Story of a doctor who has an alter ego who takes control and does bad shit. Jekyll and Hyde retelling. Interesting, but don't know if I care a lot. C+

The New Normal: A gay couple pays a young woman to have a kid for them. Her family doesn't approve, but she needs the money. Hilarity ensues, I guess? Was not interested in this one either. D+

Go On: Comedy featuring Matthew Perry. Not much to tell from this clip, so not really able to form an opinion about this show. C

Animal Practice: A comedy about a veterinarian who loves animals, but hates their owners. Stars Justin Kirk who plays Andy in Weeds and Tyler Labine who plays Sock from Reaper. I will give it a shot based solely on casting. B

Guys with Kids: A comedy about 3 guys who all used to hang out and party, but now are fathers. zzzz. D+

Save Me: Beth (played by Anne Heche) believes she is a modern day prophet from God after an accident. Interesting premise for a comedy, but we will see if it turns out worth a damn. C+

1600 Penn: Comedy about life in the White House as the First Family. I like it just because they have Bill Pullman playing the president. I hope we get some references to Independence Day on this. B+

Next Caller: Dane Cook plays a radio DJ who gets paired up a with a hole. Cast includes Jeffrey Tambor, Dane and as far as I can tell a bunch of nobodies. Looked kinda funny though, so I might watch as I used to love listening to O&A when I was younger.

Infamous: A drama about a rich family who buys themselves out of trouble. Sounds like Revenge to some extent, but the police are in on trying to bring the family down and the show features Meagan Good (Kalli from Californication) as an undercover agent who grew up as the maid's daughter trying to bring them down. Not terribly interested. C-

ABC

666 Park Avenue: Drama about a swanky apartment building that has a dark secret. It appears to be haunted or possessed. The leads (Rachael Taylor from Transformers & Dave Annable from Brothers & Sisters) are suckered into the building by a job offer from the owners (I think) played by Vanessa Williams and Terry O'Quinn. Supernatural drama apparently. Not a big draw for me personally. C+

The Family Tools: Comedy about the family screw up who comes home to take over the family plumbing business. Not that interesting to me. C

How to Live With Your Parents: Comedy about a young mom (played bySarah Chalke from Scrubs) moving back in with her parents after her divorce. The mom and dad are played by Elaine Perkins and Brad Garrett. Could be funny or could be terrible. C+

Last Resort: A nuclear sub receives orders to nuke Pakistan. They refuse and are attacked by other Navy warships. Then the sub crew goes to a tropical island and take it by force, declaring themselves to be seperate from the US and willing to attack anybody that tries to attack the sub or the island. The US declares them rogues and claims they are holding the world hostage under the threat of nuclear attack. It is a really interesting story, but I don't know how they can stretch it out for too long. I will definitely be watching though. A-

Malibu County: Reba gets a divorce and moves to LA to try and get her music career back on track. Didn't they do this show already and call it Reba? Ugh. D-

Mistresses: A group of girls (including Alyssa Milano and Yunjin Kim from Lost) are all single or married and looking. They are sluts and the drama centers around who they are banging, cheating on, etc. YAWN. F

Nashville: Another country music show, but this is a little more interesting. Rayna, an older country music singer at the top of her game (played by Connie Britton) begins to see her star outshined by a hot new singer on her label (played by Hayden Panettiere) who is a crossover sensation, but is autotuned out the ass and unaware how untalented she really is. Rayna must learn how to deal with the new landscape in country music. Might be interesting. I love FNL and liked Heroes, so I am interested due to the lead females, but I don't know if it will be something I will actually want to stick around and watch. B+

The Neighbors: A big city couple move to the burbs and meet the neighbors. But they are out of this world. Literally. The whole neighborhood is full of aliens disguised as humans. Could be funny, but will likely be cancelled very quickly. I may still watch the pilot though. C+

Red Widow: The wife of a criminal finds her husband shot in the driveway. She must figure out who killed her husband and get revenge. Not really interested personally. C-

Zero Hour: Video is private on that link, so you have to go to Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS_BklijEYw Its about a global conspiracy involving something with religion similar to The Da Vinci Code but the secret order hid the map in 12 clocks. Might be interesting or might be awful. A lot of flashbacks in the pilot to Nazi's attempting to get their hands on the secret. Could be interesting. B-

Fox

The Mob Doctor: Jordana Spiro portrays a doctor who grew up associated with the Mob, and works for them to help her brother who is indebted to them. She tries to balance the good and the evil, but is asked to kill a patient by the mob. Drama ensues. Not terribly excited by this one either. C

Ben & Kate: A comedy about a brother and sister from the same folks who wrote New Girl. The sister is a single mom and the brother is an idiot who never grew up. Hilarity ensues. I might be interested in this, but I don't have high hopes for it either. Could be cute though. I like New Girl so I will probably give it a shot. B-

The Mindy Project: Mindy Kaling from from The Office is a doctor seeking romance. Basically seems like a slightly toned down version of Kelly Kapoor as a surgeon. Yawn. C-

The Following: A serial killer named Joe (played by James Purefoy) who was tracked down and locked up by Ryan Hardy (played by Kevin Bacon) gets out and wreaks havoc. Ryan is out of the FBI and has to be called back on this one case. However the serial killer recruits his fans to be copycats and a wave of murder ensues, at least that is what I got from the trailer. Somewhat of an interesting twist, but still just another crime drama. C-

The Goodwin Games: A father of three (played by Beau Bridges) dies, leaving his 3 very different children a large inheritance. He makes them compete for the inheritance through a series of games and challenges he designed before his death. The siblings (played by Becki Newton from HIMYM, Scott Foley from Felicity, and Jake Lacy from Better with You) come closer because of this and apparently had been apart for years. Written by Carter Bays who wrote HIMYM. Looks like it could be funny, so we are putting this on the watch list too. B

Last Resort just looks too...what's the word...glossy? I can't really explain it, it's the most male-centric show ABC has done in awhile yet it still has that female laden ABC style. but i'm not gonna lie i'm pretty interested.

^^I'm just going to chalk it up to ABC having no idea how to market it, and hope for the best in the fall. I'd really like to see a list of film directors who are doing pilots this season, I know Martin Campbell is doing Last Resort and Jon Favreau is doing Revolution but there are probably a good amount of other ones I'm not familiar with.

^^It will probably be terrible, but I am in it for the trainwreck. I like Jeffrey Tambor, but I don't like Dane Cook. However if you are trying to get somebody to be a smarmy radio DJ he would probably be able to nail that.

there are quite a few conspiracy-esque dramas premiering. this never bodes well and ABC has missed on a few in a row since Lost ended.

and lol, Zero Hour, i guess they let Scott Michael Foster just bring his wardrobe from Greek to the set.

bttt. Fall TV is just around the corner. I jumped ship on a few shows I had gathering dust on the DVR and finished off the others so i'm at full capacity for the onslaught ahead.

i updated the Grid above, but I can already see a couple errors including NBC's Grimm still showing on Friday when it's been moved to a Monday time slot.

My favorites that are returning:
Once Upon a Time
Bones
The Big Bang Theory
Grimm

I may pick up a few more as the season progresses, but I don't know. I'm also wondering how much longer they can string Bones along. I still love it, and think it's great, but I would rather they kill the show on a potentially good note, instead of it fizzling out

^Yea I like Justin Kirk in Weeds, and his character was alright in this, but it was still not that impressive. May still watch, but not all that excited by this.
