Has anybody ever had a procedure with waterlase? Was it really painless, and did you have to get Novocain?

Biolase is the company that makes the waterlase dental drill. it's basically a steady stream of water that uses laser to cut through hard and soft tissue. there's no heat, no drill whine, no friction so supposedly you can get a cavity filled, or maybe even a root canal, with no novocaine or anything. Greenlee dentistry is one in Raleigh. I was considering it for fillings but was wondering if it was really as pain free as they say. there are videos of people going under it with no novocaine doing well 5/28/2012 10:00:41 PM |

There's still a nerve in there though. I don't see how changing what you cut the tooth with makes it not hurt. 5/28/2012 10:25:01 PM |

the nerve is exposed in a root canal, but not for fillings. the idea is that there's no friction or heat so it minimizes the pain, thus no need for novocaine. Oprah had some 10 years olds getting fillings without it and they were fine. I'm sure for root canals you still need the nv 5/29/2012 12:42:31 AM |

^^sounds good, I'm curious to see how effective it really is. I'm a baby when it comes to dental work.
^ouch. yeah I think I'd still get the novocaine no matter what, the shot isn't the bad part imo 5/29/2012 12:20:20 PM |
