So it's like GTA + Deus Ex. Could be pretty cool.

You had to put a period on there, didn't you?

How many other thread titles haves periods?

I probably just subliminally added it because I felt so bad about making your mom miss 9 periods all those years ago.

Yeah I like how you put a period in the title but it's not even a real sentence

I still think an unnecessary accidental period is 1,000 times better than The ***OFFICIAL*** WATCH DOGS Thread!!!

could be really really good as long as it isn't riddled useless/worthless side quests involving listening in on random conversations that take away from the flow of the gameplay. That's what I liked least about Arkham City

side quests are great as long as they don't overtake the story. (AC riddles, GTA4 friend dates, etc etc)

I enjoyed the side quests from Prototype that were more like glorified audio-recordings. Find this person. Consume him. Reveal more about the story. Those are world-building as opposed to distracting. I also liked the tapes from Bioshock. At most, you might have to figure out where they are, but they weren't exactly a mission.

I feel like the only reason this feels GTA-like to anyone is because of the map and the fact that it's metropolitan. Otherwise, I don't get that feeling.

I don't begrudge Ubisoft for not being as good at car damage simulation and environment damage simulation from cars as Rockstar.

Window reflections, fire hydrants, and headlights in Watch Dogs were sad though.

People are slamming Larry Hryb over the digital price of this game. I was thinking about picking it up, but I might want to wait and see if the price drops. Who has it, worth the money?

It's 60 bucks, doesn't the producer (Ubisoft) set the price?

This isn't the place to discuss this but $60 for any digital game is just stupid.

I picked up watch dogs yesterday. I like it. Competed the first couple of missions without even firing a weapon.

I have it. It's fun.

Not of GTA's level but it's a good open world.

I'm quite enjoying it very much, aside from the open world there's really not much to compare to GTAV.

He doesn't like GTA5 so much that he spent an hour of gameplay trying to get a car off of a rock at the beach at 4am.

^^ i actually liked gtav a lot. then they didn't deliver on heists, reduced payouts for everything, and basically made it almost impossible to make money in the multiplayer without hours of grinding or finding a hack on youtube.

So is it mostly the multiplayer that you didn't like?

I agree that the multiplayer was far from what I was hoping for and what it should have been. but even without MP GTA 5 was probably the best game of 2013.

GTA5 was a great game. Where it didn't live up is the online aspect. The multiplayer was a joke. What was billed as being able to live a life inside of a game did not turn out that way. The stock market was a joke. There was no rhyme or reason to it. They said that the players drove the stock market, but that didn't really seem to be the case.

Some of the PC master race found a gamefile on their version that had a bump in all graphics, textures, etc. that can now be activated on PC. It was hidden.

They are flipping out because it shows Ubisoft purposefully downgraded the graphics on PC to match the console versions. Consoles couldn't handle the graphics as they were shown at E3 back in the day. The PC updates now make it about at that level. No response from Ubisoft, yet.

I don't think they reduced the graphics to match consoles. The game plays like absolute shit on ultra even on enthusiast machines. They have rendering issues and they know it:

Reports from those that are using the updated files is that the game runs smoother, even with the higher settings. Not sure how much faith I put in that, but I have seen it reported in multiple forums.

Crappy ports still typically have additional DX10/11 options that make it look way better on a PC. I think they excluded some of these features for Watch Dogs because there's still performance issues with these additional graphical options. Most of the forums I've read said there's still bad stuttering with these options turned on.

most reviews have stated that console versions of the game started slowing down or stuttering towards the end. i have started to notice some slowdowns as well, but i am only in the middle of act 2. maybe it happens as more side missions start piling up.

i still think the game is fun. i like the stealth aspect of hacking. it is relatively easy though with no real death consequences other than the fact that you have to start over from an autosave point.

After some searching I discovered if you turn the textures (in display on PC) down to medium then all the frame drops / stuttering stops. I played for 5 hours yesterday without a single noticeable frame drop or slow down. Ubisoft is releasing a patch in the new few days that should fix this.

latest update didn't do squat for me on my PC. still getting stuttering and and slowdowns at random times. i guess i will try lowering my graphic settings to see if it's any better.

What specs is your computer?

Try turning textures to medium in the display settings. Depending on your hardware you can crank everything back up in graphic settings (maybe not reflections as I noticed they cause a huge hit on FPS).

I've been able to play for hours without any stuttering.
