Now that I've said that, let me say this:

My wife and I saw Taken when it came out in theaters (on the Big Island, actually). I loved it, but it was difficult for her to enjoy, for obvious reasons. On the way back from the theater we were having a discussion about how that stuff actually exists and how horrible it is. Then we started talking about the sequel and what we would like to see.

Taken 2: Justice for All: I came up with the premise that he's so distraught about that going on in a first world country that he and his comrades form a group (similar to The Agency in the Jack Ryan Jr. Universe) that goes after those human traffickers, bringing the abducted back to their families and wiping out those running the operations.

This new sequel could have been the third movie in the trilogy, where the same rules apply...he has his HQ in Istanbul and family comes to visit and bam...same movie.

I'm trying to think of a more unlikely action star in Hollywood history than Liam Neeson.

Maybe Jimmy Stewart, but everybody did westerns in those days.

That says he pulls it off well considering.

I'm smelling a poll skew or this movie is awesomely bad. Oh and Ebert gave it 3 stars. And though I haven't seen the movie, I agree with his comments that it's about time we see a hero face some consequences for leaving a string of dead "bad guys".

I enjoyed it. Certainly not as good as the first, but I went into it expecting to enjoy watching Liam Neeson be a badass, and that's what it was.
