anyone have any decent solutions to help resolve chest acne? Mine has started breaking out right in the center this summer and it's really annoying. I don't shave my chest, so it's hairy, and i'm very clean showering daily and immediately after all exercise/athletic activities.

I use a loofah and body wash daily, bar soap doesn't seem to have an effect. I've tried Rx benzoyl peroxide wash that I had for my face, astringent, witch hazel, and a few other things to no real effect as well. I don't have any acne on my back or arms so it's strange.

Acne is just one of natures ways of revealing low genetic quality so we can make good reproductive choices. That's why we automatically think it's ugly without any rational reason. Kind of like boobs of different sizes (asymmetry in general)

More specifically, Acne is probably a flaw in your immunity to some as yet undiscovered ancient virus that all humans live with. Kind of like Herpes A.

If you want to fix it, get as far out of your genetic circle as possible for your offspring. Maybe like from some hilltribe in Ethiopia.

And pick one that has good symmetry and is intelligent and has great social skills. Those are all signs of good genes.

It may not be acne. All of the showering, bathing with body washes, astringents, chemicals, etc... may be drying out and torturing your skin causing it to break out. You might also want to check your laundry detergent / start using fragrance free stuff.

I know that it may not be 'acne' per se, but that was the most general of terms. In fact I'm positive it's folliculitis, which I made a thread about several years ago.

EMCE, you make a good point about laundry detergent, that may be a good place to start. I'm fairly certain that it's not a side effect of over dry skin as I'm naturally more on the oily side.

I realize this is the lounge, but a grown man with zits on his chest still deserves to be judged and ridiculed. No exceptions.

Your shower water might be too hot. Or you might be drying out your skin with all your products. Moisturizing body wash + cooler water might do it. If not, longstanding adult acne should be evaluated by a dermatologist.
