I just started playing the game and got the first power armor... what do I do with this? Am i supposed to wear it around everywhere or just keep it at the sanctuary? if i run out of a fusion core while walking around, do i just abandon the suit?

Overall though very fun and exiting although I've only gotten 8 hours in the last few days. "

Yeah I generally remember Skyrim having a great UI but then I remember that it was because of the SkyUI mod, probably the best mod of any kind in any game I've ever played (Maybe slightly behind Counter Strike, but not far).

When I see pics of vanilla skyrim UI I remember how terrible it was. I expect Fallout to have a similar mod in 4-6 months.

Also I took off a week to play this game so Steam says I've played 66 hours. Probably 50 hours actual playtime as I leave it on when I do other stuff.

Yeah when you first get it you won't be able to use it much, but as you go through the game you will find more fusion cores to where you will be able to use your power armor more regularly. Also will find more pieces of power armor, and more entire suits so your followers can wear them also.

I really haven't done any base building. I tried initially and didn't have any copper so I left. May revisit it a bit later. Having too much fun doing quests now.

I did too much weapon/armor tinkering early and I'm now realizing that adhesive is very hard to come by

Also I bought a ps4 just for this and I'm enjoying it fine :shrugs:

Maybe I'll Fallout-ing wrong, but I have to admit I actually kind of like the 3 person over-the-shoulder view in this game.

^ I haven't tried it like that, but I could see how the combat system lends itself much better to playing 3rd person, compared to say Skyrim

I'm playing as a sniper and I prefer 1st person. I occasionally scroll the mouse wheel out to 3rd person but end up always going back to 1st person especially in smaller enclosed places. I can imagine it would be nice if you're doing a more melee focused character.

You can craft adhesive easily with vegetables and water at the cooking station.

So...I went on a renovation tear last night and that spawned a whim to completely wall-in the entire island of Sanctuary. Gross misuse of resources? Probably...

Maxed out strength + power suit allows for good recycling capacity.

I didn't waste a perk on "fast traveling while over-encumbered" yet, because typically a buffout + whiskey give +4 strength allowing for a 1 time fast travel back to a settlement. I'm thinking I may just start picking up every item I see and playing over-encumbered the entire time, since that one perk allows sprint still.

The galaxy cinema settlement has the best space for building so far, and if you put a water purifier in the pond it actually will gradually remove the radiation.

Took a hot minute but I finally got the hang of the settlement-building stuff. Sanctuary looks a lot better now that I've scrapped all the garbage and junk houses.

How do I get more bobby pins? Are they craftable or do I just have to scrounge for them?

Scrounge dog.

Apparently the only way to transfer resources between settlements is if you have trade lines set up, and that requires like 7 points invested in Charisma

I only used companions as a pack mule as I collect trash. I was trying to play stealth and they always give away my position.

Also where can I find more tuxedos? I'm trying to find more tuxedos for everyone of my settlers. Just because civilization no longer exists doesn't mean class doesn't.

I've got my follower in a set of BOS power armor. It's been damaged through combat and now she's just wearing the armor 'skin' or frame. Does this still provide at least some defense? I don't want to keep having to repair it.

You can get in a skin to find out, but I dont think it provides much. You can also wear non powered armor with your power armor skin, but seems a little pointless

Idk what the perk is that lets you see what level mobs are and their resists, but it's saved my bacon a great many times so far.

I feel like all my guns suck balls.

I am level 36 and so far this game has been epic.

On PC it looks amazing at ultra settings and it has run surprisingly well since launch with almost no bugs which is very rare these days with AAA titles. Best launch since Dying Light.

As of now, 9.5/10

I wouldn't say it looks amazing. It looks alright for how old the engine is. Pretty much every single review says the graphics are lackluster and some even say: "straight up ugly". Everyone recognizes it's an older engine (essentially a modded Oblivion engine with newer tweaks).

It doesn't look nearly as good as Dying Light, GTA5, or Witcher 3. I mean some of the facial animations look worse than games from 5+ years ago.

I'd say everything is pretty average to mediocre except the lighting which is fantastic. At some points during the daytime in game it just looks incredible even though you can tell the textures and models are nothing special.

If Deux Ex is the gold standard for RPG games with a hint of action, this game will be the gold standard for action games with a hint of RPG. I'm a huge fallout fanboy but this new perk system just chaps my ass.

Dogmeat and power armor before I'm even level 3?

Brotherhood of steel initiate before level 8?

I remember you used to have to level up to like 20 before the brotherhood would even let you in the door.

I'll still play it and love it.

I wonder how these Steam machines are going to work out. I would love to try one. Of course building one is better, but I think for price comparison to the console you get much better bang for your buck.
