Lets talk about how San Antonio* is a terrible city.

1) Cats and dogs everywhere. Everywhere. EVERYWHERE.
2) Flooding whenever it even hints of rain.
3) Downtown that only consists of the Riverwalk and nothing else.
4) 99.5% of the restaurants in SA manage to be exceedingly mediocre. The mexican food isn't actually mexican food. Its tacos and refried beans ala Tex Mex.
5) Everything around downtown is a strip mall. Seriously. Imagine an entire city designed after Capital Blvd. Everything around downtown also happens to be closed or in a state of decay.
6) Hope you like driving. Conversely, I hope you like paying for parking 'downtown.'
7) What the fuck is with these God damn cats.
8) 99.5% of the human population is asymmetrical, though this happens to be true for nearly every Texan city not named Austin.
9) The 'tech hub' is just Rackspace.
10) Can't leave anything in your car or it will get stolen.

Surprisingly though, SA has a pretty vibrant Art scene and apparently the biggest intelligence network outside of NoVa. The cost of living is also low and I actually really like Hill country. Maybe I'm a redneck?

There are pretty big plans to renovate downtown with Graham Weston owning x acres of land around the Weston Centre that he's planning to revitalize. When/If that happens I think the city will turn around really well.

Also, Geekdom rocks.

most American cities are the same crap... just because San Antonio has a little culture everyone wants to hate on it...

1) Yeah there are a few stray dogs
2) it floods, but it's easier to deal with than hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes
3) Most downtowns in America dont have any culture
4) Food is mediocre everywhere unless you pay $$$$
5) Everything around downtown is a strip mall everywhere in America. There is Seaworld, Six Flags, Natural Bridge Caverns and other things to do
6) You have to drive everywhere in most cities unless you like living in expensive NY, DC, SF
7) cats everywhere because they are feral...
8) yeah, culturally and economically diverse population, it's awesome.
9) not every city needs a tech hub.
10) yeah, dont leave stuff worth anything in a car....

Cost of living is dirt cheap and it's nice to take home a six figure salary and not feel poor like you would in the Northeast or West Coast or anywhere else for that matter.

Presumably because you're not allowed to just haul off and shoot things in public.

On paper, you'd think it'd just be like a bunch of wild deer running around, but the dogs (in particular) run around in packs and hang out outside of restaurants. I don't want to speak for Whataburger, but I think they'd frown on having someone empty a clip.

And I don't say that because someone would be shooting wrecklessly, I say that because there are that many strays.

Let me leave you with this last little nugget here: Blacks make up ~ 10% of the population, but they make up at least 50% of the prison population. Now, how in the hell can you say that race is still not an issue? I think that in recent years it has taken a bit of a back seat to women's and gay rights, which also have their own just causes.
