"What girls want & what guys want to be"

http://foxhoundstudio.com/blog/fitness-lifestyle/the-ideal-male-physique-%E2%80%94-what-girls-want-want-guys-want-to-be/

Here's a gem from the article:

Quote :
"37.3% think that men should look good naturally without any effort"

This confirms what I had already assumed - women like a guy that looks good but who doesn't seem like he's actively trying to look good. Sprezzatura. This applies to a lot more than physique, I'm sure, and I think it probably applies to women's attractiveness to men as well, but possibly to a lesser degree.

Interesting piece, overall. I'd like to know more about the women that participated in the survey. I'll speculate that any insecurity from being overweight on the women's part would make them less likely to choose someone like Frank Zane simply due to the disparity in body type. If you were to only survey women that were athletic/fit, I imagine you'd end up with a much different breakdown of opinions in some of these areas. The article does touch on that but not in too much detail.

I lean toward the 6.3, personally. But I have noticed that the closer the guys I have dated are to that, the more they want to gain muscle to get bigger. Heh.

So women want dudes who look like Brad Pitt in Fight Club.

This is really startling research right here.

The rest of the comments are pretty annoying, though. Bros insisting all the women who don't prefer Zyzz (who the fuck is that, btw?) are whales.

Zyzz:

Well known and revered in online (male-dominated) bodybuilding forums. Typically seen as the "pinnacle" of male aesthetics.

The Brad Pitt Fight Club look still looks high-maintenance/carb-free.

Carbs actually become more important at that level of leanness (8-10% BF). High carb days at least once a week are necessary to prevent hormonal problems - loss of libido, "performance" issues, depression/malaise, etc. The real issue with maintenance at that point is not too many carbs, it's sodium and water retention resulting in a "squishy" look.

The hormonal problem is true with low carb. I went low carb for two weeks and it messed up my menstrual cycle, I was spotting and getting them way early then I normally did during my cycle.

^^ Yes, but I'd venture to say that he's following a relatively low-carb diet to achieve that look. Cheat days are almost a given for any diet.

Everyone should click through to the article, because all the images posted haven't been given much context. The first image djeternal posted was a comparison of different muscular body types.

The second image was a comparison of bodyfat levels.

This is a comparison of 'lean' body types. I don't know how they picked one, they all look nearly identical to me.

This is what women consider the ideal beach body:

Then they took first place from each one and asked which one women preferred overall:

Yeah, I've heard of that being a problem for women with low carb, fasting, and general dieting. My girlfriend has done IF/carb cycling for the past 6 months or so and hasn't run into any problems (not sure if ...), but she did "carb ups" a few times a week like I have done.

To get to that point? I'm sure. There's so much variance between individuals though; some people respond really well to a low/no carb diet, even if other people do very well with medium-high carb days frequently. You kind of have to listen to your body, although "ball parking" or a non-disciplined approach won't allow most men to achieve fight club era Brad Pitt physique.

^Thanks for that. I was hoping that people would actually read the article since the initial post was a little rushed.

hahah I thought I was too, because of the spotting. I went and bought a pregnancy test.

I also know I wasn't getting enough calories for the amount of volume I was doing that month. So that and the low carb really messed me up. It's actually really hard to meet calorie goal and eat clean. I can't stand eggs and tuna now.

He juiced up for that film (admittedly). Its hard for an ectomorph to get that big naturally.

Heck Brad Pitts also an ectormorph and he is probably 160lbs + good lighting in the film Fight Club.

i've said for years that guys go for the wrong look when in the gym. Girls don't care how much you bench press that's irrelevant to them. They want you to look lean but with some muscle mass (not 155 lbs)

i think the reason most girls are SAYING they don't want the ripped bodies is because of two reasons.

Either

A) They've been turned down or get no attention from guys who look like this their whole life.

or

B) They know that a large percentage of people who go to the gym a lot are total dbags that no one wants to talk to let alone date or hang out with a lot.

But don't be surprised girls ALWAYS lie when they take surveys and stuff. These girls will still definitely bang guys with good bodies. They just say stuff like this just like they say they like guys who read, are sweet, etc. What girls say they want is not what they want and everyone knows that.

Or we just honestly don't like the look as much.

But we're women, so clearly we don't really know what we actually want.

To be fair, guys do stuff like this too sometimes.

You see it play out all the time on the internet. Someone posts a picture of a hot girl and a chorus erupts of guys saying "she's too skinny for me" or "i don't like her pouty lips in that picture".

What they are really saying is "hot girls never talk to me so I have conditioned myself to find girls who are closer to my level more attractive."

You hear this all the time with things like "I think she's really cute", "i like slightly bigger girls", "girl next door", etc.

Look no one finds people who eat a lot of ice cream sexy. Just like no one prefers being broke or sick. What they see is someone who will say yes and it makes them feel better about themselves to pretend that is their "type".

Whoa whoa whoa... Who said no to ripped bodies? The highest rated on those surveys are pretty buff. They aren't overboard, but they're still ripped.

It's definitely a happy medium thing. And for me, I really don't want a guy that is too skinny, but neither do I want a guy who looks like he's had enough steroids to shrink his balls up inside of him.

They should've avoided recognizable celebrity bodies and found pics of guys with similar builds. The idea that women don't go for super muscular guys isn't new. The celebrities that get women screaming (Robert Pattinson, Leo DiCaprio when Titanic came out, etc) never have bodies like that.

Ok, honestly

The one that caught my eye the most was "strongfat (bear mode)" further down the page

Obviously Edward Norton and Ryan Reynolds are hottie mchottitons (brad Pitt weirds me out bc he looks like my stepdad) but idk.. That bear mode dude tickles my fancy
