Just saw this on ESPN. Ridiculous, Swofford. If you can't get them in football, what is the point?

They're counting towards our bowl tie-ins, so that should help improve our bowl selections in the coming years. Also, the exit fee to leave the ACC is now $50 million!

yeah I don't think you want to faction out members into different classes for major sports, that's what happened in the big east and look where it's gotten them.

I think this is just going to be a joining in two stages to make it more palatable to the ND fans and admins who like independence.

Honestly, the ND news is secondary to the increased exit fee. That pretty much prevents any school from leaving.

Unfortunately that means BC is here to stay.

John Swofford, you sir are a PR genius. You have two of the biggest money making schools in the conference in some trouble with violations that the NCAA isn't even looking into yet, and what do you do? You go and streamline adding Notre Dame into the ACC. Rutgers and New Brunswick are awful. The campus is ugly and right beside the highway. Having gone past their stadium, the expansion looks cheaply done. I have a number of friends in Philly that went to Rutgers, and they all hated it, or state that the university could have been much better considering what they were paying. No one there really cares about Rutgers unless they are doing exceptionally well.

I would prefer to not have the Jersey trash in our conference. Penn State brings nothing in basketball, and will not bring anything in football due to the NCAA reaming them. The obvious choice would have been WVU. They are lacking in the academic side, but they would have brought in natural rivalries with Pity, UVA, UMD, & most importantly VT who refused to play them. Throw in their familiarity with the other Big East schools and it makes sense. I don't see them leaving the Big XII for a few years though. It will take them a few years to realize how much it sucks to be in a conference with Texas, and how much extra they have to spend on travel each year.

At this moment UConn seems like the best choice from what is left, but BC will try to block them to no end. I just hate that we are the new Big East in terms of giving ND preferential treatment. If the 5 games a year helps to transition them to full member status once their contract with NBC is up, then I'm okay with it provided revenue sharing is equal.

^^It saves the ACC? Saves them from what? We are the weakest in football, no help with this news. Basketball? I think the ACC is fairly strong in that department and getting stronger with Syracuse coming in. So what does this "save" the ACC from?

I don't think its a bad move, but it honestly doesn't do much for the ACC. But also doesn't hurt.
