Didn't see a thread for this. I was skeptical of NBC doing a show that seemed too much like Modern Family, but I think it's pretty decent so far. It doesn't have many of those laugh out loud moments, and I feel like the grandmother is trying to hard to be like Jessica Walter (who plays conservative uptight matriarchs on Arrested Development and Archer), but I'm enjoying the rest of the cast and especially Justin Bartha.

I dig the show. It's totally cheesy and ridiculous, and I can't help but like it.

It needs Justin Bartha's character to actually be normal though--they can't make him too neurotic.

And it was definitely a mistake to make the single, young mother such a naive and simple twit. Every character on the show is an exaggeration of some person you might actually know, except for her. She comes out of nowhere, especially given her background.

Honestly I haven't even considered giving this a shot since all of the promotional material has seemed downright horrible to me personally (and in my experience, the crazy over-promoted shows are often sub-par). I guess I'll come back to this thread later in the season though to see what people think of it before deciding whether I will actually watch a few episodes.

The neurotic part doesn't bother me. What I really love about him is that there are so few masculine gay characters on TV and he pulls it off well. It seems like every homosexual is played up to be a huge stereotype but he keeps it real.

Watched first 5 mins and skimmed through the rest. It's a comedy written by someone who doesn't know how to tell a joke.

This pretty much sums up my opinion as well. I'm only through the first 2 episodes, though.

So far so good. Hopefully it'll continue, probably the best of the new primetime comedies I've watched this season. Certainly better than "Go On" and "Guys With Kids".

I'm liking it more and more as it goes on.

The black guy saying he needed more gay friends at the end of the last episode was funnier to me than it probably should have been.
