I'm excited about it. I think it is pretty cool that they are using a lot of the same actors but they will be playing new characters in a completely new storyline...

I can't watch anything with Joseph Fiennes. His "half-whisper-everything-slowly for dramatic effect" approach and terrible accents just annoy me way to much. I start fixating on how one-dimensional every character he plays is and can't enjoy anything else. FlashForward wasn't a great show, but it had its interesting moments, but he ruined any scene he was in in that show.

Seriously, dude sucks.

this was surprisingly good. and the title sequence is creepy as shit.

i was worried about starting a new story from scratch, but this has some potential. i was also worried about having so many of the same actors in different roles, but it worked.

the alien part is kinda wacky, but other than that, i'm in.

also, jessica lange is amazing. her boston accent isn't always on point, but she's still one of the best on tv.

the reporter was in season 1. she was a psychic or something. and the younger nun was in season 1. she played the baby-crazy woman who was married to the crazy doctor.

I thought the reporter looked familiar but couldn't figure it out. Now that you mention that she was the psychic I remember her. I remember the crazy doctor's wife but didn't recall what she looked like though.


And I figured that it isn't that far fetched to have two fairly young women being roommates. I know tons of people that are well beyond their college years that have roommates but maybe it was uncommon in 1964?

it was killing me trying to think where i knew the reporter from...she was in Deadwood. mystery solved.

i love that James Cromwell is in this season.

my only gripe is that they called the guy "Bloody Face"? that's the least scary name i've ever heard. i feel like they could have done a little bit better than that.

I never noticed the fiennes whisper talk until dtownral brought it up, he definitely does it a lot lol. he was only in it for one scene and it didnt bother me

aliens made me cringe

overall good eisode, nothing too crazy but you can tell its setting up to be good

I'm with all y'all. The premiere was soooo good. I like all the topics: science, progress, religion, ambition, morality, sanity, etc...

^I was under the impression that "Tate" (Kit) is Bloody Face. I mean, he's the dude they found with the mask of human skin, right? I guess I'm kinda confused by what you mean by "there." Is he "there" at the asylum in 1964? Yes, as far as we can tell. Is he "there" at the present-day asylum where the thrill-seeking hornballs were trying to get freaky? I don't think we saw that. And I don't think we know what she was feeding.

Did I miss something already?

Well, the reporter was asking Jessica Lange about bloody face, and she told her something ambiguous, like, "you want to see a monster? He's arriving today" and then they cut to "Tate" being dropped off at the asylum.

I did an :eyeroll: at the aliens part. I wish there was a better plot to introduce Kit to the asylum than that.

All in all, I am looking forward to the season. The James Cromwell casting was great. I, too, see him stealing the spotlight away from Jessica Lange.

This is what I am thinking too. The old cliche of an asylum taking a wrongfully accused person, saying they are mentally ill, and then turning them into a psychopath through torture, dogma, and scientific experiments.

how do we even know the alien part is real? just because they showed an abduction occurring doesn't necessarily mean it was based in reality. i feel like this season's goal is to be a solid mindfuck where the lines between reality and insanity are quite blurred.

The neck implant turning into a mechanical bug makes the alien part seem real based off the doctor's reaction to it and not just Tate's. However, the lights/experimentation triggered the alien flashbacks. It will be interesting how they use the alien abduction aspect further in the plot.

Just got around to watching this week's episode. I'm really impressed. Agreed on how well the exorcism scene was. Also, the electroshock therapy scene was really disturbing.

So I guess James Cromwell is the actual Bloody Face then? Also, was the hooker somewhere in the last season? She looks familiar.

Finally got around to this and am very impressed. They seemed to have cut out most of the camp (the opening scene in the premiere made me cringe though) and increased the moody/dark atmosphere.

Does anyone else feel like they're putting too much into this season and its going to end up like lost where there are a bunch of loose ends that aren't tied up and the ones that are resolved are done so in a horrible, cheesy fashion?
