how is their reputation as a laptop manufacturer? I've honestly never seen a laptop from them.

They have a very good reputation. They just dont have much of a consumer presence in the US. They sell mainly in Europe and Asia, and they sell a lot of business class pcs/laptops/tablets.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if it were a good deal.

I loved my Fujitsu laptop that I got for graduate school. It served me well until I dropped it like a moron. Luckily it was literally the last day of exams when that happened.

They are very common where I am. They are branded Fujitsu-Siemens, and are made in Germany. I don't understand how they can make them in Germany and then sell them for much cheaper than Taiwanese/Malaysian/etc-made Dells, HPs, Compaqs, etc.

Fujitsu laptops and tablets are very good. You probably haven't heard of them because they are aimed at large businesses.
