1. say you have a(some) massive system(s) totalling 3-400 hp... how big of a bottle do you need ?
2. How much do you really need to purge before a run.

I've been watching these radial class racers and some of them seem like they purge half a fucking bottle before the run.... i mean like making their own clouds over the car for 30 seconds... then sometimes they seem to nose over on the big end and i'm like... well if you didn't empty the bottle before the run that last second you may have pulled out a little more mph...

If nothing else i feel like all those huge clouds do is freeze the fucking bottle.

The temperature difference is what makes the cloud.

A little bit goes a long way.

I think you're overestimating the amount they "waste."

...and yes with a big system you have to purge, as much as it takes, considering the results of air bubbles in the lines. Not an option.

yeah i'm aware that n2o is transparent and boils at -129*f so yeah its going to make a litteral cloud when you spray it into the sky by condensing water out of the air.

I was just trying to figure out how much of a bottle they're purging before even getting up into the race.

The purge amount isn't really indicative of the power of a system either.

The "huge" amount you see coming out isnt really what the engine is ingesting going down the track.

The temperature difference is so huge its not really that much N20 being released, it just looks like a lot.

Im not familiar with a quantifiable "amount" that racers try to purge. They probably have a good guess at the amount based on length of lines. Purge more with tank in trunk, less in cockpit. They arent emptying their tanks, not by a longshot.

I guess if you really want to know how much to purge, why not shut off the tank and then purge the line? Then you would know exactly how much you needed to purge each time.
