My automotive knowledge is quite limited, so the cause of this problem may be obvious. I've tried searching online for a solution but have come up with very little.

The car does not usually start on the first crank. The engine doesn't turn, there are no odd noises. The dash lights and radio come on as usual. It typically starts on the second or third crank and runs great. Every time this occurs the electronic trip mileage, gas mileage and gas used indicators reset.

Any ideas?
