Let's get this thing going. Insert witty Ernie joke here.

looks like the Mets have agreed to part ways with Jason Bay.

the Marlins are getting back Yunel Escobar, and two other chump change players. Wonder if they are dumping salary so they can absorb a chunk of ARod's contract...

Two years ago I thought they were finally moving in the right direction with some big contracts to Hanley and JJ, the new arena coming. Now it seems its back to fuck everything and sell the team. I almost spent a ton of money on tickets to fly down for opening night this year. Really glad I passed on that.

now the city gets fucked as they taxpayers will eat a ton of money for that stadium and area renovations and have a super shitty team to show for it.

Yep. And I just went and changed and realized I was wearing my Miami Marlins shirt. Funny. Seriously though, fuck Loria. I really had high hopes after they built the arena. And all this is to try and get Arod? I really don't care about him and don't want him on the team considering what they will overpay for him. I bet they will just get burnt like they did by Pujols.

Was my first thought as well, with Hanley gone Yunel takes SS in place of Reyes and ARod takes third.

Stanton tweeted that he was pissed off. Lol poor Tino Martinez doesn't know what he's getting into. Or Mike Redmond for that matter.

I wonder if MLB will actually have the nuts to step in and void this trade. Since they don't have the nuts to get instant replay or hold umpires accountable for being shitty, then I assume no.

The Marlins and Loria are simply working the system. Dude is banking on luxury tax money and got a new stadium that he did not have to fully fund. Fuck him, but until there is something to stop him from doing this, it will continue (maybe a minimum team salary floor - players would be all for it, owners not so much).

It's kinda stunning but I don't have that much of a problem with it. Sucks for Reyes who chose Miami over other places and then gets shipped but I guess he shoulda had a no trade clause.

The marlins spent a lot of money and were still pretty terrible, if you're going to suck it doesn't make sense to spend money on it

It's Marlins policy to not allow no-trade clauses. It's one of the things that scared off Pujols. What a bunch of cunts.

They sucked, but the bottom fell out after they traded Hanley, Sanchez and Infante. They did it to themselves.

Hunter to the Tigers seems like a decent gamble by both sides. Hunter had a good season last year, but he's in his twilight and looking for that WS title. The Tigers are obviously a team built to win now and they need another reliable OF bat plus better defense. Too bad they still have that POS Leyland as a manager.

The tigers RF playoon of boesch/raburn/kelly had a DRS (defensive runs saved) mark of -17, which was the worst in all of MLB. Hunter had a +5 which was 3rd in MLB.

I dont care if he only hits .270 with. 15 HRs, it's a huge upgrade

on paper they looked like they could've contended for the division title. it seems kind of reactionary to just throw their hands up after one bad season, if that's what they did. hell, they improved the team just by getting rid of ozzie "keep the roof closed so there are fewer home runs" guillen.

Kansas City sign Jeremy Guthrie for $25 million over three years.

I like Jeremy Guthrie, but I think that is a little steep. He threw well for the Royals, in his time there, but that's a small sample to make a gamble like that.

2012 stats with Kansas City: 5-3, 3.16 ERA, 91 IP, 1.132 WHIP, 2.95 K/BB

you'll be mad bro, in 3 years

dude is Randy Johnson size

Nats already had injuries this past year to a couple of their 'star' outfielders and the reserves balled out

giving up your top pitching prospect for a relatively serviceable position like outfielder is questionable...unless they win a WS

dude is more AJ Burnett than Randy Johnson. He still has control problems as well that the Twins will have to work with him on.

Lucas Giolito looks like the nationals' best pitching prospect, but meyer could be good.

the Nationals need someone to play CF bad

I mean still good value for Span, who honestly is not as good as Ben Revere

Span is a good pickup by the Nats. They have him for at least 2 years and possibly 3 at a decent price tag. Guy does exactly whay you expect him to do, i.e. gets on base, gets steals, plays okay defense.

^ napoli has always put up pretty good numbers for a catcher. he gets on base a lot and is good for 20+ homers. 1 good half season is selling him a bit short, but i wouldn't pay him $13 million.

Dan Haren to Nats 1 year/$13 Million.

Gio, Strasburg, Haren, Zimmermann, Detweiler is a pretty strong 5 man rotation.

They gave victorino and napoli a combined 78 million over 3 years.

.250 average and .350 OBP career should not equal $13 million a year. Plus he's terrible on defense at catcher. And if you are going to play him at first, those hitting numbers are well below average at the premium position of 1B. He threw out only 20.8% of SB attempts in 2012. Bad move by the Sox.
