It's actually really convenient. If you hear an odd vibration and you're worried about your turbo bearings you can just slap your hand up there to see if that's where the noise is coming from.

I can get behind many dumb mods, if they are done right, including smokestacks Many car mods are "dumb" from practical point of view". That dumb ass double wide Wrangler on the first page is dumb, but it's done well. Stock cars that put out 600+ horsepower are "dumb" in regard of practicality.
