Has anyone been to the Canary Islands before? Specifically, Gran Canaria? My wife and I found really cheap flights for the first week in december but have no idea which parts of the island are the best to stay or things to do other than hang out at the beach. Any advice would be appreciated. 11/13/2012 1:33:15 PM |

yea... u found cheap tickets.... expect a huge protest/strike or inconvenient holiday like ramadan, or something like that when you get there. you get what you pay for.

^^^ I live in Europe, so flights to the canary islands and other territories of European countries are generally cheap this time of year (off season). Sure, the weather won't be as warm as is would be in the summer, but it will sure beat the cold, gray, rainy weather here. Plus, its a few days with the better half in a place neither of us have been.
I wouldn't be shocked by a strike, although none have been announced during that time, but in my experience thats just part of life in many places outside of the US.
Ramadan ended in August. 11/14/2012 4:36:18 AM |

It's Spanish territory, right? Then there won't be a strike before Greece finishes imploding. 11/14/2012 10:00:47 AM |
