Bennerman-Atsur-Brackman-Evtimov-Cedric Simmons-Gavin Grant and Tony Bethel group Herb's last year came in fourth in the ACC. They played team ball. Any of those guys start on this team.

College ball it is still Jules for me. Pro ball sure TJ. But pure college Jules was our best player maybe since DT. He was impact four year starter from day one and made the team better all around.

But anyway go TJ!

While we’re reminiscing, the back to back games vs Pitt and BC in TJs last season were the most balling performances I’ve seen from a guy at State.

I dunno, Jules takin over against UConn to put us into the sweet 16 was something special. He clearly told Herb to STFU about a time out and then scored the game winning shot against Rudy Gay of all people.

He's in his prime time now. Good age(26) with a rising team. Could be elected to all-star team if everything goes well.

TJ doesn't have the type of game that'll easily put him on the all star ballot, but I don't think that he's worried about that. He's prolly more concerned about a championship.

He had too many injuries. In his five seasons at Suns, he had three seasons only playing half of them. Even he gets out of that shit hole, he's still concerned about his condition.

Atsur is a clear improvement over Braxton.

Cam is a no-brainer over Daniels. In fact, if Cam were being recruited in today's game, I'd imagine him getting offers from some of the blue bloods.

Evtimov (when healthy) and Brackman are clearly improvements over Bates and Andree. However, I don't know if any of them would necessarily take DJ's spot.

^yeah it’s a total apples:oranges comparison because Evtimov and Atsur probably wouldn’t be recruited by Keatts in the first place given his style of play.

This is dumb on many levels. First, Bates is the only center of the players compared. Second, freshman Andrew Brackman showed promise, but once he put on muscle for baseball his shot went to shit and he was worthless as a 6'10 guy who didn't rebound or block shots.

Brackman would still start on this team, or others in the ACC

No he wouldn't. He only started ~1/3 of the games he played when he was on the team. I think you're remembering him as better than he actually was.

Atsur, Brackman and Bennerman are better than Lebron, KD and Kawhi, ITT

Going back itt, there’s a lotta discussion about Jabari Parker vs TJW for ACC POY. Most agreed that TJW was more deserving but Parker was the better prospect with a higher ceiling.

They’ve actually put up really comparable numbers in the NBA

Parker 15.1 ppg, 49.2 FG%, 32.4% 3PT%, 73.8 FT%, 52.3 eFG%, 16.3 PER, 13.0 Win Shares
Warren 14.9 ppg, 49.9 FG%, 34.6% 3PT%, 77.7 FT%, 52.6 eFG%, 16.2 PER, 16.2 Win Shares

The difference being that Parker was drafted 2nd overall so the expectations for him have been different.

Warren is in a better situation than Parker actually. Hawks is a garbage team now.

Parker averages more rebounds and assists than Warren and neither are even average defensive players, but Warren isn't a headcase. That's probably why he signed a much bigger contract than Parker.

Warren is an excellent jump shooter. He made some incredible shots around the paint last night at the biggest moment. He plays like T-mac.

^^ right. And the only reason I was even making the comparison is because I’d gone back through this thread and those were the two guys contending for ACC POY and there was a lotta discussion about them as college players vs pros.

Warren is a bad defensive player but Parker is one of the worst defenders in the league and has a busted leg so it probably isnt getting better

TJ was the better player in college and is the better player in the NBA

Harden is also a bad defender but that doesn't matter for him too much, although blue-collar defensive players like Shawn Battier are hard to find nowadays. He plays great D but still cleanly, not like Bowen or Green.

Harden is not a bad defender. Get out of here with that tired old argument.

You forget the block he gave to igodala in final 2016? One of the best blocks in NBA history.
Although the rest of the time he’s just average.

I think that it's absurd to discuss somebody's career in the pros as a way of arguing about their achievements at the collegiate level. Hodge, for example, never made it that far in the NBA but absolutely deserved all of his awards and accolades in college.

Having said that, TJ is arguably the better professional player (between him and Parker) and is having a better season so far.

I wasn’t trying to prove that Warren is or isn’t better than Parker now or in college. The debate at the time (like 4 years ago now) was over who should win ACC POY - Warren or the much more hyped Parker. We all sorta agreed that Warren was the POY but Parker would easily be a better NBA prospect, thus the Parker hype train that had a lotta writers and CBB media at the time saying he should win ACC POY. After I read some of those old posts, I wanted to compare their NBA careers. We were less certain about how Warren would do in the NBA and we were fairly confident about Parker doing really well. I was just revisiting that because I was bored. Not because I was trying to settle a really old debate.

Mark your calendar for 3/20, TJ and Jimmy butler are going to fight.

Butler baited TJ to get kicked out (although butler should have gotten a flagrant. Jb called TJ a pussy, TJ said he would kick Jimmys ass and gave him the finger. In post game, Jimmy said its on next time.

Man, I can't in good conscience do that.

Like I'm voting against every UNC player and where possible against every player who didn't actually play in the ACC, but I can't vote for Tony Buckets over the 2nd best ACC player of all time.

But whenever the DT bracket comes back around, the NC State poll skewing team needs to come back and vote MJ off the island
