anyone have any experience with this software or can recommend something better? People have pointed me to this. Just looking to mess around

I've had it since 2003 (life long upgrades once you purchase it).

it's pretty versatile.

i also use propellerhead reason and find that to be a bit more intuitive and professional from a production standpoint

fruity loops is awesome if you want to sound like everyone else who uses fruity loops (if you want to sound shit). If you want to be serious in any way, buy a real DAW and then just sequence in there from midi.
