I have a Gigabyte motherboard GA-880GA-UD3H that I want to replace the RAM on.
The manual says that the supported memory are DDR3 1866 (O.C.)/1333/1066 MHz modules.
Would DDR3 1600 work? 12/12/2012 9:58:38 AM |

Just out of curiosity, why don't they list that spec in the supported modules? 12/12/2012 10:43:56 AM |

probably because it won't run at 1600mhz...it'll be clocked down to 1333mhz 12/12/2012 11:17:17 AM |

so then there's no point in buying 1600 if it is going to be clocked down 12/12/2012 11:24:42 AM |

The price difference between 1600 and 1333 is like 2 dollars, so its not like it matters anyway. And if your board supports overclocked timings, I guarantee you it will support 1600, even if you have to manually set the timings 12/12/2012 6:46:35 PM |

and if you end up upgrading the mobo and the new one handles 1600 you already have the 1600 to use 12/12/2012 7:46:20 PM |

the board is a Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H rev 3.1
the supported memory list is massive
http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-880ga-ud3h_v.2.1.pdf
Memory 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory (Note 1) Support for DDR3 2000(OC)/1333/1066 MHz memory modules
What do you all recommend? I've used G-skill mainly.
This is on sale this week but I'm not sure if my mobo will run it. It does support OCing but I've never done that before and don't really feel comfortable doing it without someone's help.
