^Who said I have a fantasy about more guns equals less crime? I was simply addressing the fact that I have a hard time believing that gun ownership is down.

Also, those statistics (49% and 100 million guns) are from a recent FBI report, not just John Lott.

And where in the hell is a survey of 2000 people in CHICAGO more valid than, well anything? That is such a small sample size and in a not firearm friendly part of the county. My point being, we can make a "poll" say anything that we want, but that does not necessarily reflect what is actually happening.

Actually they are both equally biased shit. Ya'll should really go deeper than the first Google result that supports what you want.

The General Social Survey gets money from the Joyce Foundation (Pro gun control).

It's already starting in NC. As of this month, if you are charged with DWi or Misdemeanor Drugs, you are required to be fingerprinted. Since the Feds get sent copies of your prints, thier existence will be used to deny your purchase based "unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance."

the ATF guidelines even say conviction, if they are denying it based on those fingerprints the courts should take care of that

also, the unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance is from 18 U.S. Code § 922 (d)(3)3) is an
Quote :
"unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance (as defined in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 802));"

If you read 21 USC 802 you will see that alcohol is not a controlled substance
Quote :
"(6) The term “controlled substance” means a drug or other substance, or immediate precursor, included in schedule I, II, III, IV, or V of part B of this subchapter. The term does not include distilled spirits, wine, malt beverages, or tobacco, as those terms are defined or used in subtitle E of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986."

also, the definition for addict in that section requires habitual use

tl;dr
i don't see how they can use your fingerprints alone to deny your purchase permit, and if anyone tries i can't see how a court upholds it

18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3) does not say anything about a conviction. In reads. "is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance (as defined in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act." Thus the government does not need to prove you are addicted based on convictions. And under 21 U.S.C § 802 the term “addict” means any individual who habitually uses any narcotic drug so as to endanger the public morals, health, safety, or welfare, or who is so far addicted to the use of narcotic drugs as to have lost the power of self-control with reference to his addiction. That's a pretty damn low standard.

Secondly, the DWI comes into play 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1) as "a person convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment exceeding one year." That would require a conviction.

That is just the Federal side. Under http://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislation/SessionLaws/HTML/2015-2016/SL2015-195.html The sheriff shall deny a permit to an applicant who Is an unlawful user of, or addicted to marijuana, alcohol, or any depressant, stimulant, or narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance as defined in 21 U.S.C. § 802.

With the required fingerprinting, your local Sheriff will have more access to criminal records, thus more grounds to deny you under.

I'm not arguing for or against, just stating the facts.

is it not inherently clear to you how knives are not as dangerous as guns? do we actually need to have a debate about if there will usually be as many deaths in school "knifings" compared to school shootings? can't we agree that this is obvious?

^knives can be way more deadly than guns. Knives take a little bit of skill, knowledge, or desire, where guns are more idiot proof.

If I had to go against somebody with a knife who knew what they were doing vs getting shot by an idiot, I would probably pick being shot. A knife is really scary if someone has any idea what they are doing.

^^I'd much rather take my chances against someone with a knife, since an attacker with a knife has to get within arms reach to attack me. I carry a pocket knife on me all the times, so I could at least even the odds a little bit.

If I was going to argue about more dangerous weapon choices for deranged psychopaths, I'd compare explosives to mass shootings. Even deranged gun nuts like the IRA and Timothy McVeigh have demonstrated that you can create a lot more carnage from a safe distance with a good bombing as compared to a mass shooting.

^untrained vs untrained, knife would be my choice as well.
Just pointing out that saying a knife is less lethal than a gun is incorrect.

Personal feeling is that bombers have no intention of suicide at the time either. Bombings take a larger degree of knowledge and planning.

lol. a gun is more lethal, easier to use, more idiot-proof, etc., etc. etc. It's much easier for someone (trained or not) to kill, to kill quicker, to kill more people, with a gun than a knife. It's a fact.

Not only is this pipe bomb bullshit being shoveled by the likes of Rubio and lapped up buy ignorant asses, it's also patently false.

You know why we don't take about bomb control? BECAUSE WE FUCKING HAVE BOMB CONTROL. The DHS has control over ammonium nitrate warehousing, distribution, and sales. You know why? Because when some nut decided to level a city block in Oklahoma City, we decided we should stop nuts from being able to easily kill that many people.

But for some reason, when some nut decides to shoot 5 and 6 year old kids en masse, a majority of congress thinks those lives just aren't worth the $2,500 a year they get from the NRA.

Although that's a stupid comment, and your comments are getting more stupid and annoying by the day, I'll reply that "arms" means weapons used for self defense or defense of property, so it could be argued that pipe bombs are covered by the 2nd amendment.

"Since Sandy Hook, an American Kid [under 12] Has Died by a Gun Every Other Day

There are at least 555 reasons to ask whether American children are safer from gun violence today than they were three years ago, when the unthinkable happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

That's how many kids under the age of 12 have died from gunshots — both intentional and accidental — since Adam Lanza stormed into the school in Newtown, Connecticut, on Dec. 14, 2012, and shot dead 20 children and six staff members, according to an NBC News analysis."

Fucking hell.

Fucking war zone up in here.

If that's not a good reason to do something about this issue, I don't know what is.

Click the link to see a breakdown of rates by state, as well as by gun type, gender, race, and situation.

Long, but a very good read.

Can someone tell me why MONTANA has the highest rate? Louisiana is 2nd highest, but I can understand that.
