Jerry Reed & Chet Atkins: Jerry's Breakdown- 1975

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni8KBhnebwE

This is an instrumental piece. Jerry Reed is best known for songs like "East Bound and Down", "She Got the Goldmine(And I Got the Shaft)" and his role's in various 70's movies. Under appreciated as a player IMO, Jerry was one of the baddest to ever walk the face of this earth. Of course Chet's the man as well. This video was recorded live on Pop Goes the Country. Watch their hands...

George Jones would be a contender for greatest ever, but there are a number of people I personally prefer.

Faster Horses(The Poet and the Cowboy): Tom T. Hall- 1975

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oIMtl7tudY

This is a storytelling song. A young poet meets an old time cowboy in a bar and asks him about the mysteries of life. That's when the song takes off...

Lovesick Blues: Hank Williams- 1958

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Xu71i89xvs

I got a feelin' called the blu-ues, oh, Lawd
Since my baby said goodbye
And I don't know what I'll do-oo-oo
All I do is sit and sigh-igh, oh, Lawd
That last long day she said goodbye
Well Lawd I thought I would cry
She'll do me, she'll do you, she's got that kind of lovin'
Lawd, I love to hear her when she calls me
Sweet dad-ad-ad-dy, such a beautiful dream
I hate to think it all o-o-ver
I've lost my heart it seems

This track was released posthumously. Hank's been gone 60 years as of 4 days ago. I really like the crooning on this track. American folk music at its finest.

Here is a little known fact:

One of the first gay rights songs that actually brought a lot of awareness and energy to hate crimes was "Fuck Anita Bryant" by David Allan Coe. It is a legit protest song that started a movement against Mrs. Bryant, but nobody cares about it these days because...Coe.
