"UNLV's 60,000-seat stadium proposal will feature a 100-yard-long video screen, making it the “world's largest multimedia immersive experience,” according to developers.

...

UNLV Now will be fully enclosed, and feature two clubs, six 300-seat VIP suites, and more than 50 conventional suites seating 10 to 24 guests."

if you go the article and look at the artist's renderings and the football field is actually set above the basketball court... so i'm very curious how easy it's going to be to put up and take down a platform to play a football game on every week when football and basketball seasons overrun.

looks like the screen will be on one side of the stadium, so how are people directly under it supposed to see it?

^^ they're being pretty up front that the stadium will only be viewable by 80% (i think the number was) of the seats.

I didn't even know that UNLV had a football team

Surprised this mockup isn't coming out of SEC country.

yeah true that

i guess that's why they are not really caring about the 20% not being able to see the screen. The will frame most events around that.

^^^ SEC would spend a lot less money for a lot more seats, this place is an entertainment venue first

What if they were able to have a set up like this in Charlotte that's got a race track around it that can slide seats over it for basketball and football games.

Imagine Charlotte Speedway, with a roof over it, and retractable seats that move over the track and create a football space where you can slide in a field like at Phoenix Stadium.

It currently has 140,000 seats. Imagine if they expanded out from there. Because of the space, you migth even be able to DOUBLE the size. Then you'd have everyone fighting to have their events here and you could have a screen that's twice as big because i think the infield is twice the size of a football field. even bad seats would be good ones, especially with added entertainment amenities, extra cheer squads, restaurants and clubs, dancers, all the entertainment that people EXPECT today.

if youre worried about people being far from the action, dont you realize that a big screen totally makes that not even matter? add in enough entertainment options and the recent trend of "experience enhancers" in sports stadiums (think of the people who do the promotions at baseball games) in the furthest seats, and it will be more than worth $50 per ticket for those seats for any sport.

theres no excuse why we could not be number one.

It doesn't matter if the screen is 100-yards long, you'll still be a long damn way away from it at CMS

thats a dumb idea

yall are being stupid

- put one 100 yard long screen on the endzones
- put a longer one, 200 to 300 yards long on the other sides
- If there's a roof, you could have a circular one hanging from the top
- you could also hang ones over the stands to get it closer to the new "entertainment areas" in the futher away seats, where you could have many more features including extra cheer groups, dancers, restaurants and clubs, music areas, giveaways, games, and special "experience hosts" leading actions in each area.

how about you use smaller tv's but closer to the people

use tiny tvs directly in front of every seat, from their perspective it will look like a giant tv far away

The trend in basketball events (FINAL FOUR, All Star Games) is BIGGER venues. There's no way they could pass over North Carolina if we had the biggest venue with the largest, most exciting media experience in HISTORY.

Flatten out a stadium like the Rose Bowl. Now put all those seats inside the speedway. That's over 250,000 seats. The lack of a rise will be less severe bc there will be a roof or beams supporting the large screens over the seats, plus extra entertainment amenities like cheer teams, dancers, and experience hosts who will involve everyone in the action.

Don't forget: neighboring Tennessee already wants to host Football at Bristol Speedway, which seats 160,000! The good thing is that it's only big enough for a football field and not many more seats can be added.

Lets just make it big enough that the entire state can see it. The interior space will be large enough that each team, pro and college, can have their own practice and competition space. The cost of the project will improve the state economy and we can hire out of work people to build it so our unemployment rate will drop dramatically.

I'm talking about enhancing a real venue and youre trying to make it look stupid. A state like Texas is going to do something like this (a super-multipurpose venue) and we're going to be left behind.

We won't get a Final Four or Super Bowl without a super-venue like the one I'm trying to discuss. Stop trying to bring up stupid junk. A venue that can host all-star events for all sports is great, incorporating the NC classic of NASCAR makes it even more attractive.

No one wants to sit a half-mile away from a basketball game, even if you give them a huge screen. The NCAA is already looking at moving tournaments back out of stadiums because most people don't like it.

Show me proof of that.

People will pay the price to be in the venue in these seats without great seats. How many people go to games and watch on the screen since they're too far from the field?

If you enhance the experience of the "cheap seats" with new features to add to a full-court entertainment focus (cheer teams, experience hosts, music, restaurants, clubs, and other entertainment options WHICH YOU SEE AT STADIUMS ALREADY, BUT WE CAN STILL INNOVATE ON) PEOPLE WILL COME

CHANCES REMAIN A LONG SHOT

The tickets would be thousands of dollars in a small venue. You want to shut out the fans, you jerk.

I want to open up the experience to ALL.

Expand Bristol... Up! Make it taller, like a giant cone. Maybe even make a ride at the top with seats that strap you in and then rotate so you are hanging in your harness ABOVE the game?

For the FINAL FOUR?

Youre a idiot.

Imagine if you doubled or tripled the capacity of stadiums hosting the Final Four? Tickets would be cheaper and more people would come.

You all are just elitists who are scared that YOUR type of fans wont come. Entertainment and sports mix and draw in a different client base. So sorry thats the case.

Entertainment fans go for the experience.
