Directed by David O. Russell

Saw this last night, it absolutely slayed me. Up there with The Master as one of the best movies I saw in 2012. Anyone else seen it?

even with all of the near unanimous praise, I'm still a bit hesitant to check it out

I will eventually, I'm just in no hurry

^Definitely feel you there. Even though I generally like David O. Russell's movies, I totally dismissed this at first because of the cheesy title and poster, until i saw all the glowing reviews. Still had zero plans to go see it until a friend invited me to come along yesterday. It was about 863x better than I was expecting. Laughed basically the whole time.

So many awesome "that should not be funny but it totally is" lines/scenes.

I got so excited about it back in November that I put my thread in the wrong section:

I had to wait until Christmas to get the family together to go see it, and it had already left theaters by then. But fortunately, the Rialto brought it back, and we saw it on Christmas night. It was awesome. I finally came through with the holiday movie pick!

Meh, I thought that the whole dance finally at the end was a total cop out. That has been done a bazillion times before. Good for bradley cooper and the hot chick, but there was too much going on with the delinquent parents, the total bitch wife, and dance crazed star girl to really tie much together. I felt like I just watched a crazy combo of The Fighter, Save the Last Dance and 10 things I hate about you.

Meh as well. I came away unimpressed. I thought Cooper and Lawerence did great...but that's about it. Thought the dancing thing was dumb.

saw it this weekend. expected a chick flick (not having seen previews or anything), but it turned out to be much better than that.

probably because i had low expectations to begin with.

It would have been better if they cast members of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia for all of the roles.
