I tried reaching out to the local autox groups last year, but never got a response. Does anyone here have any acquaintances that actually own autox timing equipment & a bunch of cones?

OR any recommendations on purchasing a setup? I've gone as far as looking at a preowned horse barrel racing setup that could have been applied to autox events, but someone else bought it before me.

what all do you need? I can probably get you the rallyX equipment (which is the old autoX equipment).

Looking for...

1) Race timing system: preferably something with an IR beam that starts when a car crosses it and stops when the car crosses the finish line IR beam. Very much willing to have a single start/stop area with only one IR receiver if that is all we can get. Big time display is nice, but not necessary. I would be perfectly fine with a stopwatch, but other participants have asked for accurate and competitive timekeeping.

2) Cones: Those orange things

3) Experience: Someone that can help us with the course layout so we don't put people in harms way

We would be renting out the old Sanford airport.

$800 for the daily rental fee plus you need to provide proof of at least $1million in liability insurance coverage for the group. Which isn't that expensive, you can get a policy for a couple hundred based on conversation with my insurance agent last year.

As of now it is a closed club event for the end of March, just for club members and those helping out with equipment or setup

I'll keep you posted if I can get you in. Guests will prob be allowed also

The problem is finding a place somewhat equidistant from Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greenville, SC

Got a response from them:

"Unfortunately our parking lot is not available for rental for autocross events. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for thinking of us."

wait a second... they'll let drifters paint rubber all over it and slide into their polls but autoxers that barely spin a tire is a big no no... weird...

yeah really

maybe they didn't see eye-to-eye with the drift guys. These are the guys that had events there before:

Charlotte car events (not shows ) I've been to are LMS, Metrolina Expo, Knights stadium (rock hill SC), and Carowinds
