Here's the deal. I upgraded to the iPhone 5 and want to sell my old Samsung Epic 4G.
I did the factory reset which wiped out all of the data on the phone and the SD card, however my phone number, MSID, and user name still appear in the Status screen. Obviously, I don't want a stranger to have my phone number.
From my research I have found that I need to have the MSL for this phone to be able to go in and wipe out that data. I called Sprint to get it, but since I have already deactivated it and activated my iPhone, they could not provide me with the MSL.
Anyone know how I can get the MSL or any other way I can get into it and clear out my personal data?
Thanks. 2/10/2013 10:06:17 AM |

^ I tried the emulator option, and it gives me nothing. When I just type getprop and seach the files, there is no ril.MSL file at all. 2/10/2013 10:49:58 AM |

Whenever I activate a new phone I always email myself the MSL code. If you really wanted to I guess you could ESN swap back to the 4G long enough to get the unlock code and then swap back to the iPhone. But I really think you just need to call or chat back and get the right rep willing to give you the code. 2/10/2013 10:56:23 AM |

I will get you the msl in the morning-shoot me the esn dec via pm.
Once you have that, go to dialpad and hit ##786# then it will ask for msl.

is this a sprint-specific thing? i've always wiped verizon phones (both smart and dumb) without leaving any information behind (at least, not readily retrievable) 2/11/2013 11:08:03 AM |

^^I was waiting for this post to show up. Lol.
^I think the MSID is still left behind on CDMA phones unless you can zero it out with pound codes. 2/11/2013 12:34:15 PM |

Thanks dmidkiff for hooking me up with the MSL!
^ I was able to wipe everything out: Phone Number, MSID, and Sprint Username.
