Well it appears this will be the end for me.

I thought Minecraft would do it. It wore off. Skyrim lasted 200 hours. Thought Diablo 3 would be the breaker, but it was an atrocious failure of a video game.

But this...this will be the one. My life as I know it will be over.

It looks like the graphics are diminished, which is expected for a megaserver MMO.

The surprising thing is the graphics are still pretty amazing, which is very exciting.

I'm not sure about the combat system yet, although it seems to be fairly similar.

How will they manage free-will on the PVP servers? Can I lockpick someone's house and break in and steal everything? Can I boobytrap my house to prevent break-ins? Can I hire companions to protect my house while I'm offline, and they will loot the bodies of any intruders?

This game could be so amazing, but it remains to be seen how they implement free-will in a MMO.

I'm guessing this is just a difference in opinion, but seeing a game like this have a soon-after console release just puts me a bit on edge. It makes me worry that they will dumb down controls and features in the PC game in the name of consistency. My mind immediately goes the the Skyrim inventory and menu system .

Sorry for never posting my beta impressions.

I played the most recent (and last) beta weekend. I was underwhelmed in the major. At the time it did not feel like it was all the close to being finished. Plenty of bugs and graphical errors. LOTS of interface errors trying to replicate the zoom-in-on-NPC's-face interaction mechanic. They didn't let anyone test the crafting at all--which is a little questionable. I guess they could have sufficiently tested that in closed beta, though. Skills and talent learning were odd but interesting, because right from the start you could take your own path and it felt a bit unique. Skills not quite balanced yet--a sorcerer with Stormcalling was quite OP for a low level. Also, I really do like the leveling system based on using the skills. At low levels you seem to level up a skill every time you use it.

I was only in the two noob starter zones, and they had boring designs, but that's pretty standard I guess. I never went to a major city, or even know how any of that works.

I thought skyrim was a huge improvement over Oblivion. Oblivion I could spend 10 minutes changing my outfit for combat and sorting through my potions when in need.

Never played an online rpg. Will I be able to have a good time just playing a few hours a week?

for what are they are going to charge for this game, you would want to play more than a few hours a week to get your moneys worth

I was in the most recent beta, and I've also never played and online rpg and this did not make me want to start

i can't see how they will be able to sustain a pay-to-play model for a game like this. feels more like a single player rpg with a chat room.

while i like the elder scrolls games, i can't imagine playing an mmo (i didnt try the beta).

i thought half the big deal with these games were the mods anyways which you wont get in an mmo. what exactly are folks looking forward to here?

quite possibly the best game I have ever played.....

It's not for the folks that like a quick way to max level. I've played almost everyday for a couple hours since release and I'm only mid-30s. There is so much to do in this game... mass pvp, public instances, dolmens (rifts from RIFT), PVE dailies in massive PVP zone (harder than you think when there are 500+ people on server), unbelieveable graphics in instances/world, HARD instances, very indepth crafting system with 6 different professions, even more indepth skill system.

for skills, you level up a weapon type (you can choose any/all) and you choose a class (4). each class has 3 skilltrees you can move around in freely so you can have any combo of tank/heals/dps that you want for any class. I'm a "rogue" with dual wield as my main wep then i switch to a healing staff to heal the group or myself when needed. most of my rogue abilities use magic so it works well with healing.

i would HIGHLY recommend this game if you have time.

i wasn't too impressed by the beta, and the release got mixed reviews. Right now i'm holding out for Wildstar but if that bombs i'll give this a try.
