Obviously there are still a couple weeks to go, but it's pretty clear who's going to earn ACC honors. What are your thoughts?
My predictions:
1st Team G: Shane Larkin G: Erick Green F: Kenny Kadji F: Richard Howell C: Mason Plumlee
2nd Team G: Lo Brown G: Seth Curry F: Joe Harris F: Ryan Anderson C: Reggie Fatass Johnson
3rd Team G: Reggie Bullock G: Michael Snaer F: James Michael McAdoo F: CJ Leslie C: Alex Len
Honorable Mentions: Scott Wood, Durand Scott, Travis McKie, Mitchell from UVa, Quinn Cook
I know I am overlooking some guys like maybe Booker or Sulaimon, but overall I think I got it fairly close.
ACC Rookie Team will be tough:
G: Hanlan G: Paige G: Sulaimon F: TJ Warren F: ???
ACC POY = Plumlee although it could be a variety of guys
ACC ROY = Sulaimon 2/27/2013 4:43:49 PM |

I have absolutely no issue with Green being POY while on a last place team
dude is legit and way more consistent than Plumlee 2/27/2013 4:53:26 PM |

I know we haven't lived up to expectations, but I'd love to see Howell get some kind of push for ACC POY. He outplayed Plumlee in two meetings and has been the one consistent on this team.
Although I have zero issues with it going to Green. Just think Howell deserves some mentions.

^^^ Yeah that will be unanimous
^^ I agee with Green too although he does shoot a shit ton in order to get his points. No real clear cut favorite. I hope Howell gets a few POY votes just for being a fucking beast.

Am I crazy for thinking Quinn Cook is more important than Seth Curry? I was shocked to see Curry as a Naismith finalist.
* and I seriously loathe Cook more than other player in recent memory. He's a cockchode of the highest order on the court... but he's been key to Duke this year.

I could see Cook on the 3rd team easily. Not sure if the ACC will just put the 5 best players on a team or if they try and fill it out by position. If they just take the best players and segregate them in 5s, then Cook could even make 2nd team.
There has been some good guard play in the ACC this year which should bode well for the ACC going into the tourney. 2/28/2013 9:31:15 AM |

I put Seth Curry on the first team based on hype alone. Snaer on the 2nd for his clutchness. Quinn Cook and CJ Harris on the 3rd, because both seem like the most indispensable player on their team. Also, there's no way CJL doesn't at least make the third team ...he's top 10 in scoring, rebounding, and FG percentage in the league.
1st Team: G: Shane Larkin G: Erick Green G: Seth Curry F: Richard Howell F: Mason Plumlee
2nd Team: G: Lo Brown G: Michael Snaer F: Reggie Bullock F: Kenny Kadji F: Ryan Anderson
3rd Team: G: Quinn Cook G: CJ Harris F: James Michael McAdoo F: CJ Leslie C: Alex Len
Honorables: Scott Wood, Devin Booker, Reggie Johnson, Durand Scott, Travis McKie, Sulaimon, Hanlan
Rookies: G: Hanlan G: Paige G: Sulaimon F: TJ Warren F: Devin Thomas
ACC POY: Green ACC ROY: Sulaimon

Probably not, but you can't help but be amazed by the guy. He leads the nation in scoring but never seems to force his shot. If he could get ANY help from his teammates, he might be leading the league in assists too. He plays great defense too.
Take him off VT, and they'd be a high-school level team. 2/28/2013 11:25:05 AM |

Leslie will end up higher than people are predicting. 1st or 2nd team, Howell will be 3rd or HM.
Name recognition and reputation factor way to much into these conference teams, Howell won't get the love he deserves, but I hope I'm wrong. 2/28/2013 11:26:38 AM |

I agree that Howell should be first team
And that he won't be selected. He totally deserves it though. He brings it every night. He's just an under the radar workhorse that had no pre-season media hype, so he'll be ignored come All ACC time. Which is bullshit. 2/28/2013 11:48:26 AM |

any other year, i would agree. but this year there hasn't been anyone close to being as good as he is in the conference. he is literally the only not terrible player for VT. and he isn't a guy who gets points with 30% FG and shooting 25 times a game *cough* terrell stoglin *cough*
that said, plumlee will probably win, but that's a damn joke. he hasn't been terribly good lately and pads his stats in garbage time.2/28/2013 11:54:43 AM |

Quote : | "He's [CJL] only had 3 games with single-digit scoring (OKST, vs. Clemson, @UNC) -- same as Plumlee (vs. Clemson, @FSU, @UMd)
He's had 7 games with 5 or more TOs -- Plumlee's had 6.
They've both fouled out of 2 games." |

If Plumlee and Harris fall off and we finish strong like we should, I think Howell for POY and Purvis or Warren ROY still are possibilities.
If Purvis starts the last three and continues double digits I think he makes the rookie first-team with Warren over Paige. 3/1/2013 1:01:30 AM |

i doubt Purvis starts any of the last 3 games barring injury, I think Gott found his starting lineup with Bacca/Alice In Chains/Warren G/Calvin Klein/Dick Towel
I do expect Purvis to get more minutes though if he continues to build on last game
Warren is our best chance at Freshman of the Year, though we would all trade that for winning our next 3 games 3/1/2013 1:03:52 AM |

Howell is averaging 13 pts, 11 rebounds and 2 assists per game, and his numbers are even better in ACC play. No way in hell he doesn't make First Team All-ACC. Every talking head/writer out there that I have heard on the radio has mentioned that as of right now, you HAVE to include Howell on the first team. There is no post player in the ACC having a better season than Howell.
