I've been driving my '87 volvo wagon for five years now. I love it. Paid $700 for it, and it is a beast. Drove it to Montana and back in '09. =) 3/11/2013 11:33:07 PM |

Those cars are tanks. Amazingly well built and very safe. With that kind of mileage, and a 5 speed manual to boot, seems like a reasonable price.
Bunch of uninformed haters in here, as per usual.

That car was manufactured while Ronald Reagan was in office. Before the space shuttle Challenger exploded Before Soviet Russia fell victim to those damn capitalists. Before Lindsay Lohan was born. Before Back to the Future was filmed. Before Ghostbusters came out.
$3500 is a LOT to ask. 3/13/2013 5:28:36 PM |

^^It's not a lot to ask if people are willing to pay for that. The age of it has little to do with the market price. There are older cars that are worth more. There are newer cars that are worth less. 3/13/2013 7:30:59 PM |

From what I can see $3,500 is on the high side for a 1984 244, but it's not that far off. In fact, for craigslist it's probably the correct asking price since every joe-dirt look-alike that uses craigslist to buy cars is going to low-ball him. 3/13/2013 7:35:31 PM |

138K? Pfft. That's just getting broken in for a 240. Plus a 5-speed? If taken care of, that car could last another 29 years without needing too much. 3/14/2013 12:38:33 AM |

If you keep it right at 70 it gets around 25 mpg, at 75-80 it drops to 22ish. In towm low 20s. Im pretty sure i can get 3k. 3/22/2013 5:51:16 AM |

How can you honestly think you'd get anything more than $1000 for this pile? They have tons of these in junkyards around here. 3/26/2013 11:20:38 AM |

which yards? LKQ will occasionally get a later model 240, but rarely ever anything earlier than 89. Had a guy from south florida offer me 2500 this weekend, trying to decide... 3/26/2013 2:25:02 PM |

i'd take this as a daily driver in a heartbeat to keep miles off of my truck, but i couldn't justify the expense at the moment. 3/26/2013 8:34:22 PM |
