oh man... can't believe it has been 8 years. I remember his campaign and and speeches, etc... It was awesome.

The cliff notes version is: This guy who dubbed himself "The Pirate Captain" started campaigning and running for Student Body President. Some people thought it was hilarious and supported him, and others were pissed and thought it was a mockery of student government. He ended up winning.

this was my freshman year, and the funniest thing i remember was a recorded debate between him and his opposing candidates. one guy was talking about the budget leaving room to include tutoring at local elementary schools. TPC asks, "yer tutorin' is well and good, but how many of these young students bae payin' tuition and fees?"

I remember this dude, I was away on a co-op rotation when he was campaigning but I happened to run into him and his scurvy crew doing something when I was back at NCSU for something or other. I remember they were setting up fake cannons or something outside of Talley. lol, good times.

There is so much more to this story. It was the greatest % voter response in NCSU history. It completely revamped the role of future SBPs by the administration in a good way. It showed that people didn't feel the SBP had any "power" UNTIL someone who didn't care about his legacy or not pissing off senior admin occupied the spot. Prior to this the SBP was a puppet to senior admin. TPC stood up to all them. He didn't care about their connections and "bribes".

Don't you all remember the witch hunt for his name. And then when the Technician leaked it in the paper, he and his cronies stole every Technician on campus before classes? He was also mentioned on the Colbert report.

the only problem was he had a vote on the BOT and never voted no against tuition raises etc and sometimes didnt even show up.

that was the only issue i had with it.
