The reason I'm getting rid of it is my lawn is Zoysia and this mower really struggled through it last season with all the rain we had. I wasn't able to cut as low as I wanted and ended up having some challenges with my lawn. I've since replaced the mower, but the wife doesn't want two mowers taking up space in the garage.
The mower has always started on the first or second pull. I also recently sharpened the blade, checked oil and thoroughly cleaned out the air filter. So getting up and running with this should just be pull and go. The single-speed self-propelled feature still pulls very strong with no sign of any slipping or grinding.
The couple of caveats of this mower: for some reason it doesn't like getting restarted after it's warmed up. What I mean by this, is that it gladly starts up cold, but once you've been running for a while, and you shut the mower down, it will take a number of pulls to get it restarted. In addition to this, I don't have the side discharge chute ($9 from sears) or the bag ($90 from sears...why it's so expensive, I don't know).
This mower would be great for someone with a smaller yard (<.5 acre) of cool-season grass.
Pros Starts on first or second pull Mulches well Self-propelled still going strong No Smoke when running
Cons Older No Side discharge chute or bag Is a bit challenging to restart once it's been running
I bought this mower for $100 a season ago, and have it up for $60. That being said, let's make a deal." |
