I dont think i'd have a problem pulling for russell wilson over the sorry sac of shit the Carolina Panthers franchise has been relegated to....

And i say this as a Panther fan that is STILL mad that Dom Capers cut Mark Rodenhauser and let Jerry Jensen be the long snapper in 1998.

What a fucking douche

i don't mind, and i understand, people pulling for Russell Wilson to beat a team like the Arizona Cardinals

but no fucking Carolina Panthers would ever cheer for the Seahawks to beat the Panthers

thats just an easy sign that you're not a Panthers fan at all

bringing up shit from the 90s doesn't cover up your bandwagonism if you actually feel that way

not that it will happen, but i can't wait for Glennon's Cardinals to face off against Seattle and see how TWWers place their allegiances

RW was obviously a better QB for NCSU but Glennon didn't quit on us, I'd pull for the Giraffe over the mulatto jesus freak all day long in an NFL game, because I'm a Wolfpack fan, not a Badgers fan

but anyway

I love RW, loved the attitude he brought every game, loved the fact we always felt like we had a shot with him at QB (ala Rivers).

All that said, I hope Russell plays the worst game of his life against the Panthers this September ... that the words "sophomore slump" start appearing in local papers ... that fans start wondering if they should have gone with Matt Flynn.

And then I hope RW goes back to kicking ass the very next week.

I'll pull for the Panthers in that game, but it's not like I'll be pissed if we lose because at least it's a team I like winning, as long as we're competitive.

But I'll pull for the Seattle Russell Wilsons the rest of the year.

Also like how our first 3 games could all featured a few NC State players:
Seattle: Wilson, Sweezy, Haushka
Buffalo: Williams, Lawson, Graham
Giants: A. Brown, M. Kuhn

If we can get Glennon on Arizona(now that A. Wilson left there), that'll give us 5 straight games of NC State players with Glennon on Arizona and Cole on the Vikings.

The thing is the panthers suck and the seahawks are awesome. So it may as well be a win for them and a better draft pick for us

I'll be pissed if we lose to the Seahawks, especially after last year's BS game against them. I love RW but he and the rest of his team can kiss my ass on week 1.

I have disliked the Seahawks since the early days of Shaun Alexander. I will never cheer for them even if they start 11 former Wolfpackers on offense.

Giants are still my #1 (because I was Giants fan for a decade before the Panthers existed) but otherwise I will never root against the Panthers.

Supposedly San Fran is looking to trade up ... so says the rumor mill at least. They have the 31st pick along with multiple second and third round picks (including the 2nd pick in the 2nd round, 34th overall).

Considering this draft is deep and the Panthers have no 3rd rounder, I'd give them #14 for #31, #34, and a late third in a heartbeat.

That is, unless Star is there at 14.

I would be alright with that.

Cyprien or Hunter and possibly even Hopkins could be there at 31, then go best available with both of those 2nd rounders

just downloaded the NFL 13 app...here are who a few of their guys have us drafting at 14

Charley Casserly: Sheldon Richardson
Daniel Jeremiah: Star Lotulelei
Mike Mayock: Sheldon Richardson
Bucky Brooks: Sylvester Williams
Gil Brandt: Tavon Austin
Josh Norris: Kenny Vaccaro

Bama Z said on the radio today that if Tyler Eifert is there we will draft him...I sure hope not

Drafting Sylvester Williams at #14 would mean some crazy shit happened between 1-13. I'd rather have Vacarro than Williams.

It would be some pretty amazing luck if Star's phantom heart condition causes him to fall to us. I'm not going to bet on that. In any case, best available unless it's that tight end from Notre Dame. That would be a terrible pick.

i dont want Eifert, but my buddy brought up the point about how much better our offense was 2 years ago than last year, when we had Olsen and Shockey both...so I'm kinda torn

2 picks until we're up

Floyd, Star, Sheldon, Vaccaro, Eifert all still out there

Raiders probably take Floyd

we could still trade down

I'm liking whats happened so far

Picked Star. I really like this pick. He'll upgrade the interior of the line immediately.

I also would have really like Floyd.

Quote :
"Pros: Displays tremendous power, burst and suddenness as a nose tackle -- either shading to the guard or with his head over center, which makes him a potential force in multiple fronts. Comes off the snap with alarming speed, pushes back with superior leverage and a wide base, and makes bad things happen to enemy blockers. Gets his hands out right away to attack the pads and chest of his opponent. Has the power to bull-rush and push blockers back, but his first instinct is to disrupt. At times, displays freakish upper-body strength and will throw a blocker aside to advance in the pocket.

Wrap tackler with good technique who enjoys throwing running backs around. Seems to have a real affinity for physical dominance in his overall mentality -- will build off this from one play to the next. Frequently takes on double teams and even when he doesn't beat them, he's always looking to peel off to stop players at the line or in space. Depending on scheme, could be effective in the NFL everywhere from nose to three-tech to end in certain fronts.

Cons: Plays a very high number of snaps and tends to wear down over time as a result -- late in games, he'll lose some strength, agility, and run-and-chase. Could use a more consistent set of pass-rush moves as he relies too much on his strength and starts to get pancaked when it runs short. Has struggled with weight in the past. Passed all the heart re-checks following irregular reading at the scouting combine, but some teams may still shy away.

Conclusion: While it's clear that Lotulelei can become even better with a few technique fixes, it's his sheer physical dominance that puts him on a different level, and has some comparing him to Baltimore's Haloti Ngata. I'm of the opinion that while he isn't quite as agile as Ngata, he's even more powerful, and I'm reminded of Warren Sapp in his prime. Lotulelei doesn't have Sapp's ability to knife through blockers as a dominant pass-rusher, but in a power/speed sense, he's very comparable. In any case, some team is going to throw the iffy stuff aside and pull the trigger on Lotulelei very early in the draft, and that team will be rewarded with a special player who is able to affect opposing offenses in many different ways.

NFL Comparison: Warren Sapp, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2000-2003)"

I was kinda hoping for Floyd too, but Star was regarded as the better DT over the course of the season, Floyd just impressed more at the combine, so in general Star is better if you look at a larger sample size

hopefully

theres gotta be a reason Floyd was projected top-3 and is still around after 16 picks

Awesome pick. This draft couldn't have played out better for the Panthers. Star was one of the (if not THE) top player on their draft board. Our linebackers are going to be loving this pick as well

Couldn't be happier with the pick and I was amazed he fell all the way to us.

It's scary to think about the tackling machine that Luke can become now that linemen aren't going to be able to get on him.

Fingers crossed Cyprien drops to 12 today.
