My wife and I haven't been on a vacation in a while. 2 little kids makes it tough, but we do have family available to watch them so we can get away. She mentioned a trip to Sandals after seeing a commercial on tv. I'm not completely on board with that bc we have access to a beach house anytime we want to go, and I don't know that a beach vacation is the way to go with that being said. I also don't want to fork out the money for Europe. This thread is for any vacation destination endorsements, good travel deals, websites to check out, etc.
Sorry if this thread already exists, I did a half hearted search and nothing jumped out. 5/8/2013 7:25:44 AM |

I went to Vegas for the first time back in October and loved it. Even if you aren't a big gambler, there are tons of things to see/do there. It can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. We were there for 6 days and definitely spent way too much money, but we went out to really nice dinners every night. I'm sure we could have saved several hundred dollars if we would have hit buffets.
If you are looking to stay closer to home NYC is always a good option. 5/8/2013 9:59:39 AM |

We've done socal and NYC. I'd do socal every year if my wife was up for it, but she understandably wants to mix it up. We've thrown around the idea of wine country, or Canada. I've gotten recommendations for Quebec City, apparently it's a poor mans France. Vegas is not a bad idea. I'm also not against a cruise, esp considering Carnival probably has some deals right now. I'm more or less wanting to know where the best places to look for travel deals are, and the decision will probably be made based on the best offer we can find.
^^^Don't really have a budget, and probably a 4-5 day trip. I will say I don't want to spend Europe money as we are going to Octoberfest not this coming fall but next.

You can't go wrong with 4~5 days in NYC, but my idea of a vacation is excessive eating/drinking.
Pacific NW (Portland/Seattle) can be a good comprimise between city/outdoor activities if you pick the right time of year. 5/9/2013 4:08:55 PM |

Nothing beats a road trip out west with a weekend of riding horses and such. If you want to do the destination thing then go to Caribbean for cheap. 5/20/2013 4:04:40 AM |

I just drove my wife and I to savannah for a few days...we just did our normal routine down there, without worrying about work...first vacation for us in 8 years...cheap, and effective. 5/20/2013 12:06:30 PM |
