^Most of the Shield agents still use the icers in combat, standing by that "try not to kill them" superhero code. Doubt they knew they were robots.

I feel like a lot of the inhumans in this series really don't embrace their powers enough and end up making things much more difficult than they need to me. Makes me wonder if they don't have some type of fatigue or need to recharge after using their powers.

^The icers were what they put on the ground in front of them when the assault team told them to put them down. They were closer to the icers than they were the goons. Even then, not a single one of the goons tried to get their rifles back.

You could make the same argument about almost every other show in existence that features super powers. The CW is notoriously bad for always deferring to hand-to-hand combat just to do some choreographed fight sequences.

It's like there is a recognized rule that you can't spam powers and that you have to pretend that you have MP or some other ridiculous RPG parallel and therefore conserve said powers. Of course, that all goes out the window as long as the big 'overpowered' baddie shows up to destroy the plucky heroes. Then it's just a superpowered free-for-all.

I feel like most writers and showrunners are good at keeping things reasonable in the first 2 seasons. Writing gets sloppy when all the good ideas are gone and writers have to think of new stories and they have to stretch boundaries to manufacture drama.

Yep. The most laughable was showing the silhouette of a nun walk by, then at some point as a throw-away line Quake said something like "I hated the nuns who raised me." But she never had to face them. May didn't have to go up against Slash. No one except Colson had to actually face their fear.

I thought the invasion the confederacy talked about would be Thanos, but so far all we have is a throw away line about "You hear about the craziness happening in New York?" from the Candy Man. I wonder if this week's episode will be more connected?

I’m not expecting much more in the ways of connections. What was up with the conversation between the 2 non main cast shield agents where we came in the middle and she said something like “and all you got was that scar?” and then someone said something about not being able to die and she said “you’re not the only one”

Winter Soldier set such a tone with season 1 and I had hoped big twists like that would keep happening. But I guess it had to work out that way because a show about SHIELD needed to twist since SHIELD was taken apart in the movies. But when the Inhumans became public it had little to no connection to the Sokovia accords, and we didn't see the Watchdogs going after Avengers for being enhanced. There was a lot that could have happened there.

I'm a few episodes behind, but it would be pretty weird if SOMEONE in this show didn't turn to dust after Avengers 3. Same goes for the Netflix Marvel shows, but at least those aren't happening at the same time as the Thanos stuff.

^Well, Netflix is easy, they won't have another season of anything released until after the second Avengers IW movie.

I take that back - I guess we don't know what Netflix is releasing next year?

Maybe that’s why they introduced the random new asian shield agent, so they can dust him

SPOILERS:

I really hope they do dust someone this week, just to stay aligned with the movies. They did make mention in passing last week of "the stuff going on in new york", but I wish it was more.

I am hoping for a huge battle with Qovas on his ship where they are about to lose and half of everyone disappears.

It's cool that Talbot is Graviton now though.

The events of Infinity War happened across the entire universe, right? So even the Kree are going to lose half their population.

Well, now they're directly connected. Only 2 episodes left, maybe for the entire series. Will be a strange ending whatever it is.

I was surprised at the direct mention of Thanos. They usually just hint at connections.

I wonder if the crack in the earth is a direct result of thanos making someone like graviton disappear mid action and how far the show will take the connection between it and the movie, if anyone will vaporize.

Yeah was a little surprised at the director mention of Thanos too, but this has always been the show with the strongest connections to the movies, and other shows. I wouldn’t expect anything as explicit from any of the other shows

This is most likely an alternate timeline than the one where the earth breaks apart. Right now it looks like they are on the same path to destruction but something has to change at some point otherwise the time loop continues. I think the world cracking and the Thanos destruction are two separate unrelated events, and the Confederacy/Kree are just invoking his name to get what they want.

Talbot said something about acquiring more gravitonium from deep inside the earth, I'm guessing that's what causes the cracks. We just don't know what Quake has to do with it yet, but we know it's something big since Casais knows her in the future.

I mean, all we saw from the future video was Quake...quaking... towards the ground but you couldn't exactly see what she was doing.

Guessing it's in a fight with Talbot/Graviton. Could see a case where Casais helps her strengthen/hone her powers and then she goes to try and stop Graviton from ripping the gravitonium out of the Earth(definitely just a trick by Casias).

Feels like the thing that is going to break the timeline is going to be Coulson's death.

I wonder if it's a Gravitron goes after the gravitonium in the earth, but is defeated before he can become invincible. This leaves Daisy to try and manage the destruction he's wrought. In the same way, that we saw her using her powers to subdue earthquakes long ago in the Ghostrider season.

Renewed for half a season right(13 episodes)?

Should be plenty to end the current storyline and wrap the show up. Hopefully it goes out on a strong note.

Well they said that since (at the time) they didn’t know if they would be getting another season, that this season finale would be able to serve as a series finale as well, so I would think the current story line should be pretty well wrapped up by the finale

If this had been the actual series finale I would have been PISSED.

SPOILERS (if there's anyone who actually still reads this before watching episodes)

Either show us Coulson dead or don't say he's dying. This in-between crap is annoying. But I suppose it's the only way to have the impact of a finale while also leaving room for him to come back if there was going to be a next season. Maybe the end of the Captain Marvel movie will be her showing up in Tahiti to get him.

I was tearing up while Fitz was dying, he was my favorite character by far on this show, but it took me all of 30 seconds to remember that there was still another version of Fitz frozen somewhere, but I'm confusing myself trying to think about the paradox. If they wake him up 70 years before he's supposed to, then he can't help them in the future, but this timeline is heading to a different future so waking him up should have zero impact, but this version of Fitz still comes from a timeline where he had to be frozen, so the future shouldn't be different for him yet otherwise Robin wouldn't have sent Enoch to get him...which by the way, isn't there a past version of Enoch also out there?

And I guess Talbot is now dead frozen in space as well, but isn't his body still carrying the gravitonium? Won't the Kree (or at least the house of Kasias) be looking for it?

I think I'm most disappointed that half the cast didn't turn to ash at the very end. I guess since that won't be fixed until the next Avengers movie that they couldn't do it here and still have a next season, but what was the point then of even mentioning what was happening in New York if they weren't going to follow through on the crossover? And speaking of Infinity War, sure the Avengers were busy in space and in Wakanda, but when a spaceship landed on top of downtown Chicago wouldn't at least one of them be called to look into it?

Next season won’t be coming out until after the next avengers movie, so they could have done it. With regards to an avenger being called to Chicago, they had a little half the life in the universe being destroyed problem they were dealing with, so no, I don’t think they’d be looking into it.

This would have been way too dark for them to ever do it, but I kind of wish the Odium hadn’t been destroyed and Coulson had slipped her the odium infused centipede, so she had to sacrifice herself to defeat him. As it was, the final fight was super anti climactic, she shot him up, and I thought he’d come back down and they’d fight for bit, but no, she just shot him all the way to space and that was it. Meh.

The finale was such a weird episode. I thought everything was fine with the episode...until the last 10 minutes.

I swear it was like they had it penned to be the series finale and then when they got the renewal they went back and re-cut the last 10 minutes, it just didn't fit at all.

I thought the way they defeated Graviton was terrible as well. He's just floating in space right now, I'm sure it's not the last time we'll see him. Next season is going to be really weird with the timeline paradoxes that have been created with them changing the time stream and going to unearth Fitz(who doesn't know they got married, doesn't know he has a grandson on Earth, doen't know what he did to Quake, etc).

Just a weird finale on a solid season.

There was no way to know it wasn't part of the Thanos invasion with ships showing up in other places.

I felt like the way they handled Mac this season was a little hamfisted. I get that they were making him the Mati of the team, but he does things that don't make sense. His girl, whom he loves says, "I feel like I'm screaming and no one is listening. You're not listening," and he doesn't really respond to her anguish. I get that it's an ethical dilemma for him, and she crossed a line he wouldn't, but that's your teammate, your partner, and your girl. A little comfort would be expected.

They announced a year ago it would be back, but it's going to be half as many episodes as a typical season and go through the summer, like they used to do with Agent Carter.

Airing on Friday nights in the Summer, which might as well be a death sentence.

Maybe fake Coulson is a Skrull?

I wonder if this season they will actually acknowledge anything that has happened at all in the MCU. It's awfully convenient that not a single one of them got snapped by Thanos.

^I mean, there were what, 6 or 7 main characters and none got snapped. Even if we said there were 10 characters of note, that's still only 1/1024 odds that none of them got snapped, not terrible odds honestly.

If you could have 1 family lose 80% in the snap, you could definitely have 1 team get lucky and not lose anyone. Also hard to know if this is all on the same timeline as the movies.

^In the last season, around the time that Infinity War came out, Jake Busey's side character was talking to one of them and said something along the lines of "Did you see that weird stuff that was happening in New York?"

I figured that was talking about Iron Man/Spidey/Dr. Strange fighting before heading to space, so timeline shouldn't be too far off.

^By timeline, I meant with the new time-travel they focused on in End Game where it's essentially splitting timelines/different universes. With this multiverse they've created, this could be in an entirely different universe...though I guess technically they alluded to the fact that the snap spanned multiple universes.

And with what we've seen from the trailer, it looks like interdimensional travel is likely a major factor.
