Starting up a team for a tournament. I have a few questions.

If you used a sponsorship, how did you go about getting sponsored?
-Did you go in and just ask?
-Did you have a homie-hook up?
-Suggestions?

Where did you get your jerseys?
-I am trying to do custom jerseys with names and if possible the ^sponsor name on it as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best places to ask are bars aka ale house,and so on. Most times they will pay for unis. When they sponsored our team they bought us a decent bat as well. We would spend money there all the time and went twice a week most times.

I had some friends who got their rec soccer team sponsored by Farmhouse (a defunct but excellent bar that you're probably familiar with, anyway.) They went there every Friday for beers and were friendly with the owner, so it was easy to get a sponsorship agreement from him. So, as with anything else in life, networking will make this much easier.

Also, incidentally, most of the people involved weren't really my friends, or they would have invited me to play on the team

it's best if you actually have some association with whoever sponsors you. If it's a bar make sure they know your name or at least see your face before you ask them. Most bars and restaurants probably already sponsor a team in some league so you could always look into a friend or family member's business to see if they would be interested.

Also look into alternate restaurants, pizza places, sub shops, maybe even your local mechanic if you do a lot of business with them. Some will want to be involved and play, which could hurt, others may just cut you a check ask for some business and a regular update.

The Flying Saucer in Charlotte sponsored my team for about two seasons, but we stopped going because it was on the other side of town. Now that team is sponsored by a small bar in Birkdale, a lot closer to the fields which means it's easier for us to stop by on game day for a beer. A few of my teammates are regulars there so the owner had no problem helping out with the entry fee and providing us with shirts. With that team he didn't sponsor us fully, that's a lot to ask for early on, but free shirts for uniforms and half the entry fee allowed us to stock up on balls and some other gear for the season. To say thanks we had a team picture framed on a plaque to hang in the bar.

my main men's league team is sponsored by the "coach's" company. He uses this as an opportunity for marketing and write-off. We have awesome dry-fit style uniforms with team logo on the front and his company name above the numbers on the back. He pays the tournament or season fees but we also chip in a little bit each season for balls or whatever else we may need.


As far as uniforms you can get numbers screen printed at a number of places and even online if you have a basic logo. Just google a local screen print shop and do a drop in and see if they can help out. Or call the local little league and see where they have their uniforms printed. Most shops will cut you a deal on basic shirts or let you supply your own. If you want something a lot nicer, like dry fit, you might want to look into brands that aren't the big four. I think most of ours are made by Augusta Sportswear and Badger Sportswear.

the uniforms on that website are so over the top. completely "softball guy" style. Have you ordered from them before? They've got some decent deals on clearance and I could use a new pair of pants.




i had a "softball guy" threaten to take my head off during Coed C league game last night. he about had his knees capped after the game before he ran off to his skanky girlfriend's car.

yea, a lot of the stuff on there is full blown. But the quality, esp the pants are much better than anything you will buy at dicks or retail sporting goods stores. you can go as crazy as you want, but you can also do pretty standard stuff on their too. Our coach went through there and got some pretty standard jerseys and we paid 30 per.

From where? I went to the local place here (Silverdale, WA) and they were wanting 20 bucks a shirt for a simple logo and a number.

In a league at MCAS Cherry Point. Some of the teams have full decked out unis. Ain't no way in hell I'm going to wear anything more than shorts and t shirt. Its too damn hot and too damn humid for that shit
