There have already been multiple congressional inquiries going back to 2012.

(In addition, the FBI has conducted an investigation.)

Some of the hearings were public and others were closed.

At one point, in their quest to be as ridiculous as possible, Republicans even accused Clinton of faking a blood clot to avoid testifying.

All of these things have already happened.

So now it's Kerry's turn, pretty simple.

Let him fix it.

I definitely believe the CIA angle, it's the only reason that makes sense for this still being a story. The administration can't tell us the exact who, when, and why because that would mean admitting to off the books operations. So the GOP can just fill in the gaps with FUD. I have to admit, at this point I'm actually impressed with their tenacity. They've been desperately trying to make this an issue outside of their base with no result for nearly 2 years now. The problem is their motivations are so transparent that even if there is some legitimate gripe there, it's overshadowed by their comical obsession with destroying Obama/Hillary. No one trusts or believes anything they say.

I mean, should we really care that they initially wanted to take the least politically damaging angle of the story during a Presidential campaign? That's the other part of this, even if you take their accusations as fact, it's not that big of an offense. That's why you have all those undertones of "treason" from the GOP, that somehow Obama and Hillary let those people die to avoid a bigger story. It's complete bullshit but it's also extremely dangerous, when combined with all the other suggestive language the GOP uses to describe liberals and Obama. It's going to get someone killed, if it already hasn't.

I thought they were just trying to paint them as inept and careless?

Playing golf, etc... What was the bigger story?

Nah, their overarching narrative is that Obama personally ordered response teams to stand down so they could blame the whole thing on protests instead of Al-Qaeda.

Is that what all this is about? This doesn't really make sense on any level.

I haven't really been following the whole benghazi thing...

God almighty, I wish congressional oversight was a real thing taken very seriously by congress folk.

For instance, why not open an inquiry into Obama's comptroller of currency which the GAO reported recently as totally fumbling their reviews of banks and settling for much less than they should have? I'm not saying there is certainly fire here, but there is def some smoke. Fucking do your job and look into it already. Score some points against Obama and score some populist anger against big banks (without actually prosecuting them in anyway, a win-win for republicans).

Nope, nothing. To me, it's insulting. There are multiple issues in the Obama presidency that deserve some sunlight. Instead we get red meat rhetoric and smoke blown up our asses by selectively leaked memos. How people don't see through this kabuki bullshit is beyond me.

Yes, yes we should care. Romney got blasted for playing politics on this issue. Playing politics with people's fucking lives is disgusting, and it should be called out whenever the hell it happens.

Of course, you'll give your boy a pass, because he's got a "D" beside his name, because you're nothing more than a partisan hack who spews forth whatever Obama and his ilk tell you to say.

They don't risk upsetting their corporate overlords by going after Benghazi.

Who ordered the made up stand down order?

To be fair, there are roughly the same number of guys in that photo that were reported as making up the ambassadors detail in Benghazi

The Republican-led House Intelligence Committee has determined that there was no deliberate wrongdoing by the Obama administration.

The report "confirms that no one was deliberately misled, no military assets were withheld and no stand-down order (to U.S. forces) was given."
http://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/House-panel-No-administration-wrongdoing-in-5663509.php

so I'm assuming this means that we need to spend more money and have a few dozen more hearings and investigations?

It's impressive how the republicans have managed to surf from one made-up scandal to the next, all through obama's presidency.

First the death panels, then the birther stuff, then Benghazi, then the IRS thing, now it's the executive orders thing. Whãt will they manufacture next to have all the poltical commentators talk about for a few months that will really be based on nothing...

This doesn't seem "normal" and it can't be how governing is supposed to work.

I keep hearing talk about how much vacation time Obama takes and how much he plays golf (ignoring the fact that Obama is on track to have taken less than Bush, Clinton and of course nowhere close to Reagan)

The IRS thing is "based on nothing"? Political targeting of conservative groups at the IRS is "nothing". A bunch of hard drives that mysteriously "failed" at the same time, conveniently destroying emails about the issue is "nothing"? I guess you thought Nixon was nothing, too, right?

if the position is that they singled out conservatives, yes, the review showed that they targeted liberals too. In fact, the IRS targeted liberal groups more than conservative groups.

It's interesting too that Conservatives think it's okay to drug test welfare recipients because they think they are all using drugs, but it's not okay to scrutinize PACs to make sure they aren't illegally funneling money.

I don't understand what they thought was going to happen, surprise her with emails that she herself wrote or received? With all the shit this woman has had to deal with throughout her political career, this hearing is basically debate practice to her. It's amateur hour.

It is just so painfully obvious that the Republicans were just using this panel as an attempt to slander Clinton with all of their unprofessional and hypocritical jabs. For instance, who in the fuck doesn't read notes from an adviser? This is how the entire legal system in this country works.

My only problem with it is that is hard to envision a scenario where she doesn't come off as being too brash and agro, but then again that was Obama's greatest misstep in the first debate against Romney.

Aside from the hardcore base everyone thinks this is a ridiculous dog and pony show. At this point, even if there was some serious misgivings by Obama and Clinton normal people wouldn't care.

They have beaten this horse to death, cut off its legs and then rebeat it to death again.

basically, we can't find anything, so here's a data dump. feel free to make up whatever conclusions you can, especially you clinton haters who wouldn't believe us if we actually said there was nothing to be found as the data shows.

I wonder how many Democrats were up in arms when Obamacare was passed without anyone reading it.

ANYONE.

Is this article trying to equate the partisan report to the diplomatic failure in Libya that resulted in the deaths of those four Americans?

I know it is the daily beast and they are doing their darndest to try and prop up the horribly energetic and reliable Clinton campaign.

But are they really trying to say that?
