thinking about buying this cockpit and G27 logitech wheel to play iRacing. would be about $675 with shipping total.

thoughts or any cheaper/better alternatives?

cheaper would be to build your own, but that looks pretty cool to me.

I wouldn't take advice from someone who can't start a statement with a capital letter after a period. Just saying.

Building your own isn't bad. Friend and I made his out of plywood and various lumber. It wasn't expensive, maybe $60 plus labor. Hardest part was ergonomics. That took about an half hour of trial and error before we got it comfortable.

PVC is another option.

We sourced a REALLY nice early 80's RX-7 passenger seat (no rips or stains) from LKQ for like $40.

I'm curious about the dimensions they used...

lol @ video

1. buy $700 racing seat setup
2. play in 3rd person view

----------

if you build it yourself, you should figure out a way to put the whole thing on pneumatics and roll according to steering input and pitch according to gas/brake.

then give me one for free when you start your racing seat empire

For $700, you could buy your buddy a set of racing tires and he'd probably let you drive the damn car in a regional.

WHY BOTHER PLAYING VIDEO GAMES WHEN YOU CAN JUST USE THE MONEY FOR THE REAL THING!

Quit your job and become a racecar driver!! Any of you who like flight sims should just join the Air Force and become a fighter pilot!

Or get a private pilots license, which 700 bucks could get you about 17% of the way to.

I don't even know what track worthy set of 4 tires you can buy. I can barely get 2 for 450

A set of Dunlop Star Specs for my car is under $700 installed, but "track tires"...yeah don't think so.
