Well I really don't care lol, these things are probably a dime/dozen and I'll just wait around and catch them on sale - as you should know me by I don't rush when it comes to selling/buying stuff.

1. Do these have pullchains or just remote only?
2. Are these still able to be switched separately (separate light and fan switches)?

No pullchains. Yes you can just turn just the light or fan on via the remote, if that's what you're asking.

fans don't come with wall switches, but if you chose to run a wire and install a wall switch you could control the light and fan independently. i just use the remote on the one i have installed, but certainly a wall switch would be nice.

c'mon man. I'm not fucking stupid. Some fans aren't wired/don't have have harnesses for separate switching.

news to me

so your actual question is: "can you hook this up to a wall switch via wire, or is can it only be controlled by the remote control?"

i've googled a bit, and this is the only reference i can find concerning a wall switch for this exact model is:
Quote :
"I had my handiman rig it so that the light turns on by the wall switch and the remote works for the fan only. That way I can quickly turn on the light when entering the room without searching for the remote first.""

http://www.buzzillions.com/dz_12804086_hampton_bay_cherokee_56_in_brushed_nickel_reviews#ixzz2aj37xyGl

so i would assume you can wire it.

we have 3 fans that have remotes in our house (2 of the 4 bedrooms and the bonus room). Each fan just has 1 wall switch associated with it that essentially is just the contact for power. If it is "ON" the remote controls the fan and light independently. If it is "OFF" the remote does nothing. We typically leave the switch in the "ON" position and just control the fan off of the remote. I definitely like the remotes over the wall switches. Especially since they do the different speeds as well as temperature-based control. I think some (not our models) even do timed control where you can set the fan to run for 30 minutes or something as you fall asleep and then cut itself off.

But if you turn off the wall switch to turn the light off, when you flip it back on does the light come on? I don't think mine works like that.

Ours actually do. I'm not sure if that's common or not. This was the first time I've had remotes for fans.
