Men and women have an exhibition match on the road today.

Women are at UNCG for a 5pm match and Men are at High Point for a 7pm match.

Women have a new coaching staff with head coach Tim Santoro. He was the associate head coach at Wake.

It's Coach Finley's 3rd season for the men and our incoming class is ranked in the Top 20. Hopefully we can make the NCAA Tourney this year after the way last season ended. The team basically died after the Maryland game and then the DTSB incident that resulted in 3 players getting kicked off the team.

Hope we get some students who actually know how to cheer at a soccer game this year.

From what I remember, a couple of the underage guys were caught and then something happened with police outside. It resulted in 3 of them getting kicked off the team and then athletics banned all athletes from going to DTSB.

It was a junior, sophomore, and freshman that got kicked off.

High Point won the exhibition game 1-0. From High Point's twitter account:

I support our soccer team all the time, but we haven't been an ACC giant since Tab Ramos.

Raleigh has some of the best club/high school soccer in the country. There is no reason State shouldn't be a giant.

I agree. Tarantini basically stopped recruiting the area and we'd maybe get 1 or 2 NC guys who just really wanted to play at State.

This year's freshman class has 5 in-state guys with 3 being Raleigh/Cary.

Good to hear. It seemed like UNC and Wake had been dominating area recruiting recently.

Women trailed 1-0 at the half and then scored 3 goals in the first 19 minutes of the 2nd half. Navy got one back late, but couldn't get an equalizer and State takes the season opener 3-2.

The men's 2nd exhibition game ended in a 1-1 draw. State scored in the first half off a header from junior transfer Clement Simonin. It was almost an impossible angle as he headed it from the left line of the 6 yard box into the right side of the goal. UNCW's goal was off a free kick late in the game. We had just subbed in our 3rd keeper and it looked like he though the kick was a cross and then it curved right into the goal.

Men will open the season on Friday at Campbell.

GW goal was a header with 44.1 seconds left.

All goals were scored in the 2nd half.

For some reason the video switched the order of our PK and Longwood's 2nd goal.

Sucks for them

" According to Somoano, forwards Andy Craven and Rob Lovejoy are likely lost for the 2013 season due to injuries.

“Andy Craven has an extra bone in his foot that chipped off, so it’s going to have to be take out,” Somoano says. “Robbie Lovejoy tore his groin a while back, but it hasn’t healed and he’s probably going to have surgery.”

Craven was the Tar Heels’ leading goal scorer last year with six goals (along with five assists) over 22 games. Lovejoy, who contributed seven goals during the 2011 national championship campaign, also missed the first half of the 2012 season due to injury. However, he returned to net five goals in just 11 matches. Somoano says both players will be eligible to play next year as redshirt seniors. "

Women won 3-0 over East Tennessee State. 2nd half was delayed due to lightning, but only about 20 minutes.

Next game is Wednesday when Georgetown comes to the Dail. It'll be a big test for us since they're 13/14 depending on the poll.

Men lost 2-1 to BC. Tied it off a header from a corner and then BC's game winning goal was an absolute rocket. Had several chances towards the end, but couldn't convert.
