"The Wolf of Wall Street is an upcoming biographical black comedy film directed by Martin Scorsese, based on Jordan Belfort's memoir of the same name. The screenplay was written by Terence Winter, and the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Belfort, along with other cast members including Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, and Matthew McConaughey, among others. The Wolf of Wall Street marks a fifth collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio, and a second with Winter after Boardwalk Empire.
The film is set to be released in November 2013, and will tell the story of a New York stockbroker, played by DiCaprio, who refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, the corporate banking world and mob infiltration."

Looking forward to this. Looks ridiculous and over the top, but wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it was actually true. I know it's based on a memoir.

Can't believe this movie is going to be about 3 hours long(2 hours 59 minutes), can't even imagine how long the unedited version would be. Also curious what the unedited version would be like, apparently originally got a NC-17 but edits helped it sneak in just under at rated R.

Should be an interesting film.

Saw this tonight. I'm not quite sure what to think of it. I definitely enjoyed it. It was hilarious at parts. It was excessive at 3 hours, but I believe that was the point.

I also saw it tonight, and thought it was in no way excessive at 3 hours...loved every minute of it. This might be the Beam talking, but I thought some of the editing was choppy from shot to shot. Otherwise, I loved it.

Oh I neglected to mention I was hoping to see way more of Matthew Mcconaughey...seems like he was only in the film for 5-10 minutes.

Just saw it. clear cut best movie of the year. Leo gave such a great performance.

Can't remember the last time i've laughed so much at a movie. The scenes with Matthew McConaughey were fuckin HILARIOUS

That scene where Margot Robbie strips down to nothing but her boots made me want to dive through the screen and fuck her. she was smoking hot in this.

Best of movie of year? Hell no.

12 years a slave has that on lock already. It's over

I'll give what I really thought about this film later, I just saw the
film and some couple brought their children. Let me repeat:
BROUGHT. THEIR. CHILDREN. And they never left. Unreal

Research your movies people

I'm not sure if I've ever seen a more perfect human being on the big screen

just absurd

I got super excited when I saw Ethan Suplee and even more excited when I heard and then saw Sharon Jones

also, a big fuck you to the dude behind me who kept repeating, "oh no, don't get in the car" during the cerebral palsy scene

Margot Robbie was ridiculous. And the cerebral palsy part had me rolling.

Movie was good...but definitely not "movie of the year" good. It rode the drugs/sex/expletive train a little too much and was a bit monotoned.

Since I'm not a 13 year old boy I'm not going to rave about a movie's use of drug use, penis jokes, boobs, and swear words. I thought it was overdone in some parts and in some parts it was right on time. I like my perverted humor more subtle and I guess other people LOVED American Pie.
Whatever floats you caveman like boat. I just dont hi five my buddies because the characters use the F word 250 times. I get it. you cuss.

I thought Leo did an excellent job. A movie where he finally didnt die in (LOL). But lets be clear, Leo will never get an oscar. I thought he did a better job in Django and the Departed. 12 years a slave has this on lock. Joah Hill played a grown up version of Superbad.

the movie with all its hi jinxs and ridiculous shit kept the movie interesting and moving. they could have cut it down though and no one would have complained. The editing was everywhere I felt. The whole time I felt it was a parody of a Martin Scorsese film and not actual a Martin Scorsese film.

I laughed hard at the overdose lemon scene. the popeye reference was brilliant. Midget jokes aren't funny. Gay jokes arent funny. Watching frat boy idiots build a top notch stock broker firm even though you need a license to do it, now that is hilarious.

Just saw it last night. Must have been a weak year for Academy nominees, because this wasn't that great. It was entertaining, but nothing worth celebrating. Also, I thought it could have been 45 minutes shorter.

This movie was a fucking roller coaster ride that didn't let up. Waaay better than the imitator American Hustle. Leo finally had a performance that I loved him in. The lude scene had me rolling. I loved how the number of steps increased from his POV. So great.

I don't know if I have ever seen a film with such morally corrupt central characters that was as long, compelling, and enjoyable to watch. Leo was great as always, but I felt like Jonah Hill stole the show. He was fucking amazing in his role. The scene with the ludes and Popeye almost had me in tears.

Aside from Amy Adams' tits, this movie was waaaay better than American Hustle IMO.

You're definitely right. I think the two just get lumped together as "the crime movies" of 2013.

saw american hustle and WoWS a week or so apart on bluray. American Hustle felt longer and it was an hour shorter in actuality. I really liked WoWS. i think AH had really bad pacing. jonah hill was great here, as was Leo.

was there a scorcese cameo? I didn't catch it.

Don't be a noob. Even the top critics on Rotten Tomatoes compare them. If you didn't think of Goodfellas and Scorcese within the first 30 seconds of American Hustle then you haven't seen Goodfellas.

the only reason ppl are doing it because they came out around the same time and the Oscar buzz. The WOWS (not Goodfellas..wtf?) are two totally different movies in setting, tone, and theme. I agree it's about con men, Ill give you that, but they dont even end the same whatsoever.

I enjoyed it. Technically, it was really well done, and it was so well-paced that it didn't feel like 3 hours at all. But it was sort of missing a soul. Even a film about despicable people can have a soul. Also, I laughed quite a bit, but it wasn't riotously hilarious to me. I might have laughed more if I saw it in the theater.

Jonah Hill was my favorite part.
