taking a 2 period calc test in HS. teacher wouldn't let us turn on the news and half my family lives in nyc. I didn't do very well on the test and the teacher thought a 5 point curve would make it all better

I was in PE my freshman year of college. It was a walking warm up around downtown Raleigh, and the girl who usually walked with me was late and she finally caught up to me. She started telling me about how on the radio she heard that a plane hit one of the twin towers. I told her that it was most definitely a small craft plane, that the pilot's instruments must have malfunctioned and it was an accident. When we got back to the gym, the tv in the lobby was turned to the news and it was a live shot of the smoke coming out of the first tower then we saw a big 747 type of plane come in to view and then hit the second tower. It stunned us into silence.

Our PE teacher made us go into the classroom that was in the same building and start doing work and we weren't allowed to talk. I was getting anxious so I just got up and walked out 5 minutes later and went back to my dorm. Everyone was sitting in the commons room watching the tv listening to the news, then someone came in and said everyone had to go to emergency chapel.

We get there and the place was packed. Everyone on campus was in the chapel. And for an hour or two people talked about how scared they were and we listened to reports on what was going on. Then a few of us got into my car and drove to the red cross to donate blood.

Working for Raleigh parks and rec setting up a computer lab at jaycee park. Was testing the internet by going to cnn.com. Couldn't figure out why or was going so slow until a coworker came in and said a tower was hit by went into the workout room and watched it unfold on the TV in time to see second hit and then first collapse. There was a senior group there too and one of the ladies was confused by the smoke coming from the ground after the collapse.at that point drove home to be with my grandmother who lives there and was home slide. Got back in time to see the second collapse. I thel

I was a freshmen at State and was in my Intro to Psychology class when it happened. Didn't know it at the time, but someone passed out and fell into the aisle about the time the first plane would have hit.

Went back to the dorm and my roommate was still asleep since he didn't have a class until the afternoon sometime. I had my first ever college test (calculus) in a couple of hours so I was sitting at my desk studying when my roommate's girlfriend kept calling to tell him something and he kept telling her to shut up and let him sleep.

A few minutes later the girlfriend was banging on our door to tell us what happened. She turned on the tv and I caught a quick glimpse of it, but I was so worried about my test that I went down to the study lounge to study. So I didn't really get any info on what was happening until after my test when I went to the Wolves Den for lunch.

I was in HS Geometry.

I mostly remember the teacher telling some of the students "shut the fuck up, this is important."

Later in the day most of the faculty was walking around in a daze or crying.

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

I woke up on my day off and walked into the living room and turned the tv on. I tried changing the channels a few times before realizing something was up. If I recall correctly, it was the time in between the towers were crashed into. I spent the rest of the day on the couch in disbelief and thinking that I was going to wake up sometime. I was 19 living solo in my own apartment in Charlotte.

Freshmen year Psych 201 (or 200..don't remember) with Nacoste. First plane hit and news filtered in to the teacher and he let us leave early. Went back to the dorm room, turned on the TV and saw the second plane hit. Crazy.

I was getting ready for class, forget which one. I put the TV on right after the second plane hit. I skipped all classes during the day. That night I had a public speaking class that met once a week. Our professor decided to hold the class. A little more than a week after that I met with him for office hours to get some additional feedback on a speech I had done on 9/18, and he broke down crying to me saying that he made a mistake by holding class on 9/11. Pretty awkward, I didn't know what to do.

I was a sophomore in 2nd period Geometry and the biggest fuck up in our class ran in saying "the pentagon has been attacked. WW3 is about to start", and then the teacher turned on the tv right after the second tower had been hit

also remember seeing a shot of Manhattan covered in smoke/ash from across the Hudson and thinking that the entire city had been destroyed

our HS was right next to RDU so we were on edge for a few days after with every plane landing

I was a junior in HS and was taking a test in Spanish III when the announcement came over the intercom. Of course, our teacher spoke little English so trying to convince her to allow us to to turn on the TV to watch the footage was definitely not happening. Ugh! She just laughed and made us finish our tests.

Then, next period went to my Chemistry class with my favorite teacher and he let us watch all the news reports about it. Everyone was crying while trying to make sense of it all.

My cousin's wife occasionally worked in the Pentagon and mostly in the Congressional Library so my family was freaking out until we finally got up with her and my cousin.

also at this work party, begonias and I were serenaded by an overly intoxicated pre-murder-committing Grant Hayes, who was in attendance with a not-yet-murdered Laura Jean Ackerman

This morning I went on YouTube and found the NBC Today Show broadcast on 9/11/01. Just for morbid shits and giggles, I synced the time of the video is realtime.

It amazes me how unorganized and discombobulated everything was.

I was in Owen Hall, sleeping through Beginning Swimming with Winslow (I think that was his name). I was the one of two Americans in the class and was probably too advanced for the class since like the first three weeks were learning to float. I got an A+ in there somehow even though I managed to sleep through like 3 weeks of class. Anyway, it was a 9am class and my roommate came in afterward and woke up and told me about 9/11.
