this is relevant to my interests.

Ford has pretty much had their way in the first 2 years of the Global Rally Cross series.
(their drivers are pretty exciting to watch)

Tanner Foust

Ken Block

Brian Deegan

Now that may change with the introduction of some new hardware from the other manufacturers.

Dodge has taken a step in the right direction, just needs to work some kinks out.

Travis Pastrana

Bryce Menzes

Subaru has started to show promise with the addition of new driving talent.
(but will be losing Dave Mirra)

Mini is pretty competitive, light weight and nimble.
Liam Doran is continuously competitive in whatever he is driving. Dave Mirra will fill in for him in Charlotte this weekend.

WTF happened to Hyundai? both of their 2012 cars are for sale and the factory pulled its' backing for 2013.

VW is also throwing its' name in the pot overseas, not sure if it's stateside, as of yet.

Citroen is hugely competive in Europe. bring that shit over here, plz.
Sebastian Loeb is probably the top driver in the world right now.

and Chevrolet will debut its' new Sonic this weekend in Charlotte.

This style of racing is blowing up. Anyone else follow?

Looks pretty sweet, but for some reason it just doesn't do much for me. Maybe because the courses are so small and there isn't serious speed involved? I'm not sure.

It'd be a lot cooler if all these companies participating sold AWD versions of these hot hatches instead of lame-ass FWD (Subaru excluded)

I completely agree with the AWD version comment.

they should also offer the wide body packages to the public, as well as the ability to buy the parts to upgrade if you have a model being raced.

and, WTF? Where's Honda? Toyota? Nissan (lol)? Mitsubishi? BMW? Kia?

I don't like the fact that a few of the big name drivers are just X-games guys throwing money around and getting seat time. The few rallycrosses (? the ones in the stadiums) I've seen look to be more about showing off and close calls.

Can these guys compete on the world stage? They've got the balls, but do they have the skill?

^ do you not remember the shaun white commercials with bfg tires? I'm not thinking these guys are terribly talented, but at the same time the only way to get talented is with seat time and money and these have pretty good starts on both so they probably have an above average chance to be decent.

^^^ from what I've seen, the harder you drive, the more expensive rally is going to be

If you push to win, (which is the point, for me), you're going to keep finding the weak points of most street driven cars, so you just upgrade by attrition

you can go out and just drive the course and learn car control with little or no damage, but you're not going to win an event

so to answer your question, it's going to be as expensive as you make it

it's a lot less expensive on consumables, in my experience (tires, brake pads)

^^most of the big X-games names are in it to bring their fan base/attention to the sport

they do have some skill, from what I've seen, too
