not really marketing, but the pregame could use a serious overhaul. Havent been to a State game in a few years but it used to be where everything was ready to go, crowd in a frenzy, then Mr and Mrs. Wuf would come out and just randomly dance around on the field for literally 6-7 minutes and just kill the crowd and THEN the players would run out.

I remember that from when I was in band. The band comes out and plays its show, then they'd come out and meander around the field for a good 5 min, then they'd play a shitty video and eventually the team would run out. It was always as if they didn't like the band and just wanted them to go ahead and do their show and get out of the way so they could do whatever CanesVision or whoever produces the media for football games wanted, which was always some shitty video set to horrible rap/rock/nu metal along with player intros done by the players, which you could never hear because 75% of our team cant' fucking talk beyond a mumble. Then more POD or Creed or whatever shit those people like plus Kevin Nash and the team finally comes out. It's awful.

I think they sent out the Wufs to eat up whatever time was left between the band and the videos because our show always started at 20 min til and ended in 7 minutes, yet they couldn't figure that out every time. I'm surprised they didn't just show Fox 50 commercials on loop instead.

^^^ not the same. Obviously in sports related marketing you are going to have similarities. "Oh that baseball team has a baseball as part of their logo, so do we!!!" Thats going to happen. Like the state outline thing, teams will use outlines of their state, lots have done it as you mentioned. But to EXACTLY copy it is different. All the examples you posted, they are similar, but the two that stand out as being EXACTLY the same (with each teams mascot and colors being different of course) are ECU and State, and they are a few hours apart in the same state and play each other. Looks really bad. Even if State had come up with the same thing completely independent of ECU (which is unlikely) they should have been like "shit, a team right down the road has already done this, well, there goes that idea, lets come up with something else"

And the video is really bad, just flat out stealing. The exact phrases, shots, etc. Horrible.

yup, although the S doesnt bother me because that is going to happen with only 26 letters being available and "block letters" are used all over. But even back then, before national television coverage, and every game being televised, and games being very regional, I could excuse it a bit. But if you think State just wasnt aware of what ECU did and it was just a completely random, 1 in 100,000,000 amazing occurrence... State obviously knew that ECU had done it (and LSU) and just said "fuck it, we are copying that exactly", thats the problem.
